Which ship has the best nightclub?

25 posts in this topic

I dont know what it is about cruise ship nightclubs but of the ships I've sailed on the small 'nightclub' is pretty much empty on an evening?!

Don't get me wrong we're not all-night ravers but unless its a mini-cruise no-one ever seems to go in the nightclubs? Just wondered why that was. Have sailed mostly on P&O and it seems after the last theatre show everywhere goes pretty quiet.

We sailed on Ocean Village (qute a long time ago!) but they had a really lively casino/nightclub which was the hub of the ship after dark and a great atmosphere. Can anyone recommend a ship/cruise line with good night-life?

Thanks!

Royal Caribbean are good for this, much liveliver at night than a lot of other cruise lines.  Whatever you do, dont opt for Holland America, nice ship but everything seems to shut down after 10pm.

Some of my family have been with NCL and swear by them, they wont cruise with anyone else now.  Dont seem tacky, just good fun and apparently the nightlife, especially on the newer ships is really good.

Ive been on both Norwegian Cruise Line The Epic and Royal Caribbean Independence - both nightclubs brilliant and busy - Epic have an outside night club at the back of the ship - as it has so many Americans on board they know how to let their hair down - I think the American ships have better night clubs because they have better DJ's not just a chap in a glass box playing the same CD on a loop!!

The night club on queen mary is amazing g4 - fantastic band earlier on and the music later that they play is all up to date. The club is like a real night club.

Hi  In my humble opinion it's not the nightclub itself which is important, it's the passengers onboard which makes the ambience.  The best atomsphere in any nightclub I have noticed was on the Golden Princess many years ago.  I booked an Easter Caribbean cruise unaware this was a popular cruising time for college students to take a vacation (holiday to UK readers).  They certainly partyed well and none of the "hostile behaviour" associated with a minority of young British clubbers.

I, like Land Ahoy, believe it's often the passengers you meet which make the cruise so special. I remember one of my favourite cruises was aboard Arcadia in the Caribbean a few years ago. Our table of 8 in the restaurant consisted of 4 couples of various ages (25 - 75yrs at a guess), the chemistry was fantastic between us all and we hit it off immediately. We got on so well we actually met up several evenings and afternoons & let the laughter continue.

Has anyone been on any celebrity ships? what are their nightclubs like? We love to have a dance and drink and so the nightlife is important to us when selecting a ship! :D

Is it true that they put the lights out on Adonia at 22:00? I thought I had read on one thread about someone sailing past it and it was like the Marie Celeste? Perhaps everyone was in the nightclub!

We found the Fred Olsen Balmoral Observatory lounge had a range of music from 60's to 00's and the dance floor was never empty on the nights we visited, whereas P&O Oceana the DJ in the starlights lounge seemed to enjoy emptying the floor rather than filling it!

My vote is for the QM2, it is without doubt my favourite and from the replies on this thread I'm not alone here. I bet people that have not cruised on QM2 have a preconceived ideas that it is full of old stuffy duffers! If you are of this opinion, you couldn't be more wrong! I have been on all P&O ships, 2 NCL, 1 Celebrity and 2 Cunard, believe me, the QM2 nightclub is way out in front.
