Forum, How Do You Use Yours?

10 posts in this topic

I have been using the Bolsover Cruise Club forum regularly now since August last year.  I have really enjoyed the banter on topics and gained some valuable tips.  This is a really friendly place & we are very lucky to have some of the members we do.

But how do you use it?

Do you look for a certain topic, do you just follow one cruise line on it? Or like me do you dip in & out whenever you can on the latest posts to see what is happening?

I use it purely as an interest tool mainly.  I'm not often looking for specific things, yes occasionally, but not always.  Most of the time I do as you do River Song and dip in and out as you say to see the latest topics of conversation.

Good question RiverSong,

I use several forums one of which I am a moderator on. To me a forum is an information centre, a place where a person can come who wants information on a certain topic. I enjoy the banter that goes on between members of the various subjects and its an interesting place to come and read the views of others on varied topics. I enjoy the opportunity to help a member out with their question that I may know the answer to. Forums also have their downside. They are addictive and unless you are disciplined you can spend hours on them. I find it sad when a forum becomes a persons life. Cruise forums often attract people who are always telling you how many cruises they have done. One particular forum has threads pages long simply because the posters insist on putting in their signature their past and future cruises. My question is, who cares? Bolsover is one of the friendliest forums on the web that allows freedom with only gentle moderation. Long may it continue.

I completely agree OWT, I find this forum excellent.  It's friendly as you say and like I first mentioned at the start of the thread, I like to dip in and out to see what's going on.  I enjoy the freedom of it and have been impressed since joining last year.

Good topic River Song.

Like you I enjoy this Forum. It has a certain 'quality' about it.

I try to keep all the topics in my view and hopefully contribute to as many as I can. I certainly don't comment just for the sake of it.

I do avoid the non cruising ones though - with the exception of the Sport/Chelsea thread.

Glad to see the Forum going from strength to strength.

I presume you mean the Chelsea flower show Richard, I can't for the life of me think how Chelsea could be associated with sport  ;)

Nice one Sammy. I see we both did well over the last week, your boys in particular.

Let's hope it isn't your only trophy.  ;)  ;)

Lets' hope so Richard, although it pains me to see Cesc Fabregas wearing the colours of Chelsea!  Hopefully we'll make one, maybe two more signings before the window closes and give your boys a better game this season.
