Gratuities For Robots?

13 posts in this topic

Hi   Royal Caribbean have just announced Quantum of the Seas (to launch in October) and Anthem of the Seas (to launch next year) will have a Bionic Bar on-board. No bar staff at all!  Just a quick thought does this means the 15% service added to the bar bill which is added to reward the wait staff will not added in these venues?

haha its much cooler than that!! you put your order into a tablet and robotic arms mix the drinks for you, the video looks ace.

interesting thought tho how can they add a service charge on, it would have to change to a maintenance charge for the robots :D

I wouldn't count on the service charge being waived for the bionic bar.

I would imagine it will be pooled and distributed, perhaps even including the maintenance staff too!

Sounds like a very modern, high-tech idea. It's all very well until the robot goes wrong, and you end up with fairy liquid and a dish-cloth in your G&T!!!

I'll stick with "proper" bar staff... service charge or not!

Me to STC I would rather ask a human being than a machine, you cannot have a conversation with a robot

I believe that there will be a 15% service charge added when served by a robot but it will be given to a seafarers charity. As for getting the drinks wrong, if they can fly airliners by computer why can't they serve drinks. Seems that Star Wars is gradually becoming a reality.

So long as they dont use the robots from Short Curcuit, I dont think a Johnny 5 cocktail would be very good, 2nd thoughts maybe they might develop a whole new range with robotic style names.   Any suggestions folks????
