Rome To Civitaveccia Port

Has anyone done their own flights and transfers to join a ship in Rome? The flights seem to be okay its just the transfer.  Any recommendations?

We took the train from the airport to our Rome hotel and got one of our bags 'picked'. Made sure that when we did the next leg to the port two days later, that we took more care and were more conscious of just who was around us. Would do a taxi transfer in future but mainly because its such a faff getting luggage onto platforms and then on and off the trains which are not very user friendly.

Hi,

Just back from Reflection last week...  ( left from Civitaveccia ) . Have previously used separate flights and overnight, however this time decided to use Celebrity package flight/bus from Rome airport on the day. No issue on the actual process or quality, however this meant 'same day flight', leaving the house at 3 am to head to airport on the day of the cruise and being very tired first day. Would (as someone already mentioned) go back to heading out a day or two prior to cruise  and being more relaxed and energetic starting the cruise. The airport is not that far from  the port ( about 50min but motorway/toll road all the way)... UK booked taxi may be a good alternate ( i have used 'Holiday Taxi' website for previous cruises and excellent service all prepaid (only a voucher required on the day plus any tip you want to give) , UK support centre etc etc

I have used the train also to Civitaveccia and its fine, however would not fancy it with cases etc.. can get quite busy
