NORTH CAPE & FORDS

13 posts in this topic

Hello everyone

We have just booked a 14 night cruise on Emerald Princess for August next year which goes to Fjords/North Cape/Arctic Circle Honningsvag/ Lofoten Islands/Tromso/Alesund. Has anyone done this cruise? can anyone advise me on the weather. I'm just a little unsure as we have never cruised north before. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Nick

It will either be very hot, very cold, or somewhere in between. Layers is the answer. Personally I prefer it cooler so it suits me fine. It got up to 8 degrees last time we were in Bergen (May)

Norway is the best cruise destination I have done.

Hi nick1310, I've been to the Fjords for the last 2 years in July. The first time the weather was absolutely glorious, temperature 74 degrees and really sunny except for Bergen when it poured with rain but it wasn't cold.  This year the weather was very mixed but the stunning scenery sure makes up for the weather. I'm sure you'll have agreat time and as you say, going from Southampton means you can take an extra suitcase with your woollies in!

We did the arctic circle on Princess 2 years ago when they included Svalbard in the itinerary. We cruised in July and the weather was cool and quite wet. My sister cruised the Arctic circle the same year in May with P&O and they had warm weather and beautiful sunshine. Beautiful scenery though loved the lofoten  Islands -we did a tour this included supposedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It was stunning and there were large numbers of sea eagles and seals around.
