Something you can now laugh about?

7 posts in this topic

Having been speaking about situations we have been in were it was'nt necessarily funny at the time but can now look back and laugh about....

About 6 years ago I was at home on my own for the weekend while my parents were away, i suppose thinking back i could of been a little more mature about the whole situation but hey ho i wasnt! one night i forgot to lock the back door till late on at night so i had to get out of bed and do a mad dash downstairs to lock it, when i got back in bed i heard a loud bang from downstairs! me being me obviously not wanting to go down stairs just laid there and hoped it was nothing, until i heard it again and then managed to pluck up the courage to go downstairs to investigate (we have a dog so good chance it was him) but no it wasnt, so my great plan was to get a bread knife and i took it upstairs to bed with me haha such a good idea i know! anyway all night until about 3 in the morning i kept hearing these noises and couldnt sleep so i decided i would ring the ring the police, literally within 3 minuets of ringing the poilce to tell them i believed i was being burgled, about 6 police cars turned up outside my house and about 20 policemen surrounded the house with a massive torch that lit up the street definitely waking up all the neighbours! i then had to answer the door to tell them it was locked all along and obviously had not been burgled! the next embarrasing thing is when my parents got back the next day to have all the neighbours ask them why the police swarmed our house last night!

At the time i didnt find it funny at all but now looking back i can see how rediculous i must have looked!

So what has been one of the moments you can now look back on and laugh about?

I had 2 police officers turn up at my house saying I had called 999. We definately hadn't and it was all a bit awkward with them saying I had and me saying I hadn't until I realised that my 2 dogs had been jumping between sofas and climbed onto the side table with the landline and dialled 999 laugh.pnglaugh.png  I laughed about it straight away but the 2 officers didn't think it was quite as funny

I was called out for the alarm going off at work -I used to manage a shop in a 4 story Victorian house. I met the policeman outside and we entered together. I stopped the alarm ringing and noted it was the sensor on the second floor,I warned the officer that the building was reputedly haunted. The brave young policeman took his torch and headed up the stairs. A minute later I heard a scream and he flew down the stairs looking like he had seen a ghost. A couple of seconds later a black cat calmly strolled down the stairs.

My eldest son is autistic, and fifteen years ago he was at a residential college in Newcastle.

We always tried to give him the maximum decision making control of his life that was possible, but at the same time we heavily influenced him about the negative health aspects of smoking.

Unfortunately the advice was taken too literally and while visiting a local pub he switched off the cigarette machine to "look after the health of other people using the pub", and consequently got barred.

At the time I was fuming that I had to drive a 250 mile round trip to sort it out, but can smile about it now.
