Transport to southampton

5 posts in this topic

Hello everyone on the cruise club ,this is my first time on,the question is because I am not a great lover of heights in fact I can't look over the side of the smaller Thomson ships, but I have decided to try a cruise on a P.O.ship sometime in the near future, I live in Manchester and will have to travel down to Southampton ,I do drive but will not drive that distance, so was wondering the best transport down there and do bolsover book for you.

You have basically two options, train or coach. The train takes around five hours with one change somewhere and the coach would be about the same time.

Eavesway coaches pick up at Knutsford services and have excellent reports.

If you have the option of a free coach with P&O, the this will be with Intercruises.

It depends how much you are prepared to pay. There are coahes, as rianl has said, but you could also consider portsdirect who will drive you there but it is quite expensive. Alternatively you could go by rail.

Hi Silverfox 111.

I live in Worsley and will be travelling to Southampton from the Bolton pick up point with Intercruise provided by P&O. I am very familiar with Bolton and can tell you that the pick up point is the Premier lodge opposite the Macron Stadium ( Bolton Wanderers). The whole area is a massive retail park with thousands of car parking spaces. However, to the best of my knowledge, there is no long stay stay car park anywhere near. Your car would be very vulnerable if left here especially for a couple of weeks. I am getting a lift to the pick up point. I don`t know if the premier lodge would consider allowing you to park there for the duration of your cruise - but they might if you book a room.
