Do Cunard rigidly stick to their allocated embarkation times?

5 posts in this topic

With some cruise lines staggering, and adhering to, the "arrival times" at Southampton, can anybody tell me please if Cunard rigidly stick to their allocated times.

I can't answer this from experience Jean but I presume, being under the same umbrella as P&O, Cunard will operate a similar system to them. If that is the case then they do actively encourage passengers to try and adhere to their allocated check-in times but that said, if you do arrive early, they will do their best to get you on board as soon as possible.

We get priority boarding with Cunard so I can't answer your question from personal experience however some friends who were on our last cruise had a boarding time of 90 minutes later than us, due to a last minute change of plan they arrived at the terminal much earlier than they expected to, we were very surprised when five minutes after boarding there was a tap on our door and it was our friends ... they were on board literally within 15 minutes of arrival.

They do operate the same system, but they do usually start boarding 1 hour than P &O would, hence there is not usually as many people in the queue. They will still issue you with a colour coded card. The boarding is without doubt easier than P& O. Sammy is correct, they will try and get you onboard as soon as they can.
