Seasons come and seasons go as cruise ships sail to and fro but one thing always remains the same, there is always a great deal to be had! As summer transforms into autumn, the constant need for itinerary changes will be an ever present within cruise line brochures.
The need to follow the good weather will always be there and with this in mind, this is often a great place to start for passengers looking to find an exceptionally priced holiday.
The change of the seasons brings about the need for ships to relocate and this usually revolves around the changing of itineraries revolving around Europe to that of the Caribbean. As autumn approaches, cruise lines will head over to the Caribbean in order to follow the sunshine and prepare for a season of Caribbean itineraries.
These cruises are referred to as repositioning cruises or sometimes Trans Atlantics. The itineraries involve sailing from a current home port the ship has been using such as Southampton for example for a P&O Cruises vessel to a new home port for the winter, often Barbados. Europe to Caribbean repositioning itineraries will include a call into an Atlantic Isle usually, in order to break up the journey.
Often destinations such as Ponta Delgada, Madeira and Tenerife are used for this purpose. The ship will then continue onwards, usually for a period of six sea days before arriving in the warm waters of the Caribbean. These cruises will then take in several Caribbean Islands before making their way to their new home port for the season, Barbados. Of course there are many different examples of these repositioning cruises taking place. I have chosen to use P&O Cruises, Southampton and Barbados as my example as this is a great selection for picking up a bargain holiday.
P&O Cruises operate this route year on year and it usually revolves around two main ships, most commonly Ventura and Azura. Once the repositioning sailing is complete, the ship will then settle into a routine of Caribbean itineraries for the winter before repeating the repositioning process again when the following spring season arrives and the ships make their way back over to European waters.
These sailings often offer outstanding value for money. The cruises are often considered less attractive due to the amount of days spent at sea but the fact remains that these ships are not tug boats crossing the Atlantic, they are grand superliners with sensational facilities and phenomenal amenities. The cuisine on board is absolutely incredible and the service remains, as always, exceptional.
Therefore, you may spend a little more time at sea on board these itineraries but the quality of the ships, the service and the remarkable facilities means you are crossing the Atlantic in the most luxurious comfort possible. Plus, you do have the advantage of calling in at some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, stop off at Madeira along the way to the Caribbean and enjoy the classic toboggan ride experience before cruising on over to the sumptuous islands of St Lucia, Antigua, Aruba, St Maarten, Grenada, Barbados and many more.
These sailings really are special and as you are at sea for six days before reaching the Caribbean, the crew on board go all out to make sure that the entertainment is at its peak. These really are fantastic cruises yet for some reason are still deemed inferior to that of a regular itinerary. Long may this remain the case, as whilst it does, there are still fabulous deals to be picked up for cruise lovers looking for the perfect bargain getaway. Simply pack your bags, head for Southampton, enjoy the smooth flowing, simplistic check in process and be on your way.
Cruise over to the Caribbean and enjoy the blissful relaxation along the way before soaking up the sublime sun kissed islands. Once complete, simply leave your luggage outside of your stateroom on the last day for it to be transferred to the airport and flight for you without any worries at all, head for the airport aboard provided transfers and fly home ready to tell friends how good your holiday was, it’s that easy!
Repositioning cruises are available with a wide variety of cruise lines. Cruise operators may vary in terms of the ships available to choose from, the accommodation, dining and much more but aside from the subtle differences and variations, the need for repositioning remains constant year on year. As such these stunning repositioning cruise deals remain very much available and should always be looked at for a brilliant holiday experience. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Seabourn, Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line all feature these itineraries along with many more.
For the perfect escape and the welcome addition of warm weather and glorious sunshine into your lives, consider a repositioning cruise and enjoy value like never before!
