Back in July, we celebrated the arrival of the ‘Reimagined’ Azamara Quest in Liverpool, not only with a visit to see this gorgeous ship but also with our very own AzAmazing Evening.
Liverpool’s stunning neo-classical St George’s Hall provided the backdrop for our evening of entertainment, the beginning of which was signalled by a melody of organ fanfare. Next up was a performance by mezzo soprano Danielle Louise and Scottish opera star Douglas Nairne, followed by a champagne reception and a chance to see more of the incredible setting.
The finale – or rather the party starter – came courtesy of Four Lads From Liverpool. As the world’s best-known tribute to The Beatles these four lads in particular have packed schedules, but they found the time to entertain Azamara’s special guests with a rousing gig of Beatles classics; the crowd were on their feet and many a youth was relived as the full-fringed lads belted out the back catalogue.
Our AzAmazing Evening was, well…amazing! Of course, Azamara Club Cruises are famed for such destination immersion, so we thought we’d share the other AzAmazing Experiences we love the sound of for 2016/17. Some are AzAmazing Evenings, some are exclusive ‘Insider Access’ tours and others are part of the cruise line’s ‘Nights and Cool Places’ programme. Which ones take your fancy?
Doge’s Palace After Hours

The Venice landmark attracts over a million visitors each year but you’ll leave the crowds behind to experience a private after hours tours of the Venetian-Gothic building’s hidden treasures. Stare slack-jawed at the lavish décor, visit the lagoon and courtyard, cross the Bridge of Sighs, and stroll into the Piazza San Marco; home to the Basilica di San Marco and some seriously good cocktails to end your evening.
Red Carpet Exclusive at the Mikhailovsky
Your walk along the red carpet will be greeted with fanfare from Russian Horn Capella Orchestra trumpets, as you arrive for a night at the Russian ballet. You’ll spend a bucket list evening at the Mikhailovsky Theater, one of the oldest opera and ballet houses in Russia, enjoying a ballet performance beneath the frescoed ceilings of one of St Petersburg’s most iconic buildings.
Polo at Lion Castle
Polo has been played in Barbados since the 1800s and few other sports attract such a jet-set crowd. Lion Castle is one of the most prestigious polo clubs in Barbados, thanks to a world-class polo field and clubhouse, and you’ll join the glitzy polo set for an evening of sporting prowess. Pick your team, have the waiter refill your champagne glass and enjoy the balmy Caribbean evening air as Royal Barbados Police Band kick off proceedings.
An Evening at Crocosaurus Cove
You’re never too old to get your kicks from seeing giant crocodiles swimming at only an arm’s length away and Crocosaurus is home to the largest reptile collection in the world, including almost 200 saltwater crocodiles – some of which are the biggest ever kept in captivity! A highlight of the evening is the Cage of Death, with some of the ship’s brave officers taking the plunge into a tank submerged in waters infested with giant crocodiles. Later, you’ll experience a ceremonial demonstration by the Larrakia people, who are the traditional owners of the town of Darwin.
Monasteries and Meditation
As far as excursions that will show you the authentic cultures of Myanmar, it is difficult to beat the Monasteries and Meditation Insider Access experience. Visit the Ka Lay Wa Monastery and observe over a thousand monks as they eat and learn in absolute silence, before following them to the nearby Mahasi Monastery, where you will observe as they practice vipassona meditation. Finally, you’ll have the chance to have the monks answer your own questions. Even writing this is enough to make us come over all zen!
