Now we are officially in December and the year is drawing to a close, there is one thing on everyone’s mind…Britannia!
We are like kids at Christmas as we get closer and closer to the launch of the newest ship in the P&O Cruises fleet, and we wanted to share our excitement with you.
In our ‘Countdown to Britannia’ series, will take a closer look at every inch of this amazing ship. We have already introduced you to some of the artists whose work will appear on board, and in this post we will go behind the scenes at The Oasis Spa; the largest and most luxurious in the whole P&O Cruises fleet.
We might not be able to get you on the ship early, but we can show you what to expect when you do get there in March…
THE OASIS SPA
When Britannia launches next year, she will bring with her one of the most opulent and indulgent spas at sea. Just like those people who always peek at their Christmas presents, we don’t like secrets here at Bolsover Cruise Club, so here is what’s in store for luxury lovers and serenity seekers…
The Hydrotherapy Suite promises tangible relaxation; all from within beautifully contemporary surroundings. Here you will find;
» Heated loungers
» Therapeutic saunas
» Steam grottos
» Tropical showers
» Saline Caldarium
» Hydrotherapy pool with reflexology, massage jets and air recliners
Britannia will see P&O Cruises continuing their partnership with world-renowned British brand, Elemis. As leading skincare and spa experts, Elemis have led the industry for almost 25 years and will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary with the launch of seven new advanced facials; all of which will appear on the treatment list aboard Britannia. We think these treatments in particular sound incredible:
Elemis Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Facial (50 minutes)
This exceptional anti-wrinkle facial has been independently tested, with phenomenal results. Empowered with Quartz micro-crystals and the anti-oxidant properties of other precious minerals, this treatment is proven to reduce the number of wrinkles by up to 94% and improve skin firmness by up to 57% after just one session. It will slow down the visible signs of ageing, leaving skin firmer and uplifted.
Elemis Absolute Spa Ritual (100 minutes)
Pampering your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, the Elemis Absolute Spa Ritual combines the Elemis Pro-Collagen Quartz Life Facial with the Elemis Deep Tissue Muscle Massage. Bliss!
La Therapie Hydra-Lift Facial D’Excellence (50 minutes)
Deep cleansing and exfoliation are followed by a micro-current to help re-educate and recharge facial muscles for a dramatic lifting effect on the facial contours. A specially described treatment mask will further help to smooth fine lines and is combined with Galvanic Current to maximise the performance of each product, helping to propel active ingredients deeper into the skin.
Prices for treatments are still to be announced but they promise to be worth every single penny.
Blow Out, Lash & Brow Bar
Blow dry bars are incredibly popular the world over and now Britannia are offering the opportunity to panic-free prep to passengers. Take the stress out of formal evenings with a blow dry, lash extensions and brow shape; all in unapologetically glamorous surroundings.
Offering express treatments to get your tootsies in ship-shape, Foot Therapy will offer a variety of treatments including foot baths, exfoliation and rich moisturising.
The Oasis Spa Shop
The cruise lines very first spa shop will open its doors on Britannia, stocking skincare and hair products by brands including Elemis, La Therapie, Phyto, Bliss and Sebastian.
The Oasis Private Villa
In yet another first for the cruise line, The Oasis Private Villa will provide a VIP hideaway within the Oasis Spa. The perfect retreat for couples or pamper parties with friends, the area will feature luxuriously plush seating, a private whirlpool spa, personal spa treatments and of course, champagne and strawberries too.
A popular feature among P&O Cruises’ passengers, The Retreat will appear on board Britannia in spectacular style. The VIP adults-only open air terrace is the perfect place to escape, with treatments being enjoyed al fresco within the shaded cocoon of your private cabana.
People often assume that spa and relaxation areas on board cruise ships come at a hefty price but at £6 on port days and £10 on sea days (for a half-day pass) we think you’ll agree that it’s actually a tiny price to pay for ultimate relaxation.
Here is what you can expect to receive for your money;

» Unlimited access to the Oasis Pool
» Luxury towels and chilled face cloths
» Luxury bathrobe and slippers
» Fresh fruit
» Loan of iPod with soothing sounds pre-loaded
