Forman’s @ Fish Island in London was home to P&O Cruises Britannia Launch event last night, where we were given a taste of what was to come aboard P&O’s newest addition to the fleet.
The venue was separated into mock rooms of some of the various dining and entertainment venues which have been revealed to be on board Britannia. In an exclusive announcement, P&O Cruises announced the line-up of top celebrity chefs who will feature on board including Marco Pierre White, James Martin, Eric Lanlard, Atul Kotchar and Wine expert Ollie Smith.
French pâtissier and celebrity chef Eric Lanlard had been busy creating masterpieces for us to sample, from savoury delights to truly tempting deserts, all beautifully presented. Fresh breads, fish, cold meats, olives, cheeses, not to mention the masses of dessert choices on offer will all be available in The Market Cafe which will be located just off the stunning atrium, a wonderful place to relax with a coffee and cake.
Marco Pierre White was on top form giving a live cookery demonstration, assisted by TV presenter Lisa Faulkner. Marco will be present on board selected 2015 cruises giving cookery demonstrations and more…details to follow soon.
Meanwhile wine sommelier Ollie Smith greeted guests in the mock bar where the ambiance was similar to that expected on board Britannia. A tasteful and stylish venue where you can sample a multitude of wines selected by Ollie himself, The Glasshouse has already been a hit on board Ventura and Azura, but Britannia is set to take it up a notch.
Craig Revel Horwood later took to the stage & announced that the Strictly Come Dancing themed cruises had proved so popular amongst passengers on previous cruises that they’d be rolling out a range of brand new Strictly themed itineraries aboard Britannia in 2015. Professional dancers dazzled us with a stunning performance giving us a sneak preview of what was to come. Sequins and sizzling performances aplenty!
Our last stop was to ‘The Limelight Club’, a fabulous dining venue offering a sophisticated alternative to the main restaurant. For a supplement you can enjoy sublime cuisine whilst being entertained by the likes of the wonderful singer Jackie Graham. Jackie informed us the entertainment in The Limelight Club would vary every 3 or 4 days, so you can experience a variety of entertainment whilst on board. A great excuse to visit more than once during your cruise, and well worth it if the standard of the food, the presentation and relaxing ambiance was anything to go by.
Around the different rooms we got a real sense of how elegant and refined Britannia will be, and with such a diverse choice of dining and entertainment areas it’ll be hard not to be wowed. There certainly does seem to be something to whet every appetite.
