What is it about being unable to travel that leaves you desperate to pack a case and hotfoot it to the nearest airport? Given that where to go when the travel ban is lifted occupies our every waking thought right now, we were unsurprised to see analysts suggest that searches for holidays in 2021 are up more than 30 per cent since the Government told us to stay inside. And so, in the spirit of travelling vicariously, here are the places some of us here at Bolsover Cruise Club will be heading for the minute we’re allowed.
Abbie Simmonite, Social Media Manager
Japan is definitely top of the list for me, purely because it is so out-there and different to anywhere else. It’s such a diverse country, so I’m using lockdown as an opportunity to do my research and plan the perfect trip.
Wendy Flegg, Customer Service Manager
I fancy having a go at Scotland again in my camper van. I didn’t like it last time but I’m determined to give it chance to change my mind.
Lisa Kennedy, Cruise Expert
I’ve got it all planned out. We’ll cruise from New Orleans, they visit Mississippi, and end in Nashville, where we’ll take in as many music venues and festivals as physically possible.
Fran Puddick, Marketing Manager
My daughter, Marni, has decided that she’d love to visit New Zealand and it’s somewhere that has always been on our list, so it’s a done deal!
Lauren Sheldon, Digital Marketing Specialist
I think lockdown has left us all desperate to go somewhere – anywhere! – but I’m missing the simple pleasures of a day at the good old British seaside, with fish and chips, and seagulls squawking overhead.
Helen Moore, Reservations Manager
I can’t wait to go back to Greece. My fear of flying means I haven’t been for years and the last of my hypnotherapy sessions fell just in time for the travel ban – typical! I’m so ready to go back once we can travel again. I’ve done some of the Greek Isles but some remain unexplored; Kefalonia is my next port of call.
Claire Rogers, PA to Michael Wilson
A ranch holiday in the Canadian Rockies for me, please!
Davena Foster, Cruise Expert
I’m still hopeful that my honeymoon cruise aboard P&O Cruises Britannia will go ahead and I cannot wait!
Charlotte Hope, Cruise & Stay Expert
My 30th birthday West Coast road trip may have been postponed but that just gives me more time to plan it for 2021. New Zealand is high on my list too and I’m toying with a cruise and stay package to maximise our time in each place; there’s a lot of exploring to do!
Harriet Nally, Cruise Expert
I’m keeping all my fingers crossed for my honeymoon in Tokyo going ahead. I can’t wait to explore the busy bustling Tokyo, and the calm, snowy mountains of Hokkaido.
