Viking Sun is the fourth ship in the Viking Ocean’s much-acclaimed fleet, where guests will have the opportunity to explore everywhere from the USA to the Caribbean, Asia to the Mediterranean, the Panama Canal to the South Pacific, and much more in between.
All Viking Ocean itineraries will see you enjoy the same benefits, including complimentary shore excursions, free unlimited Wi-Fi, all on-board meals that have been created using fresh and local ingredients, plus with an extensive list of added-value inclusions in your fare.

Viking’s goal is to provide you with great value and give you more for the price you pay, thanks to a cruise fare that incorporates everything you could possibly need during your time spent at sea.
You’ll find understated elegance and modern Scandinavian design throughout the ship, on which every single private and public space is beautifully designed, functional and filled with light. As an all-veranda ship, with 465 cabins accommodating 930 passengers, Viking Sun promises expansive vistas every day from the comfort of your private veranda, whichever of the stateroom categories you opt for. There are five grades from which to choose, with spaces starting at a generous 207 sq. ft.
Veranda staterooms feature premium amenities such as a king-size bed, luxury linens, a large interactive flat screen TV, an expansive bathroom with heated flooring and even a complimentary mini bar. Elsewhere, the 14 Explorer Suites range from 757 to 1,163 sq. ft, incorporating private wraparound verandas and all of the finer details you might expect from the most privileged category on board.
Soak up the sun around the main pool or take a swim in the glass-backed Infinity Pool; cantilevered off the stern of the ship, this became the first pool of its kind at sea when debuted aboard the very first Viking Ocean ship. In keeping with Viking’s Nordic heritage, you are encouraged to enjoy a spot of pampering in the luxurious LivNordic Spa, where you’ll find a large Jacuzzi, traditional sauna, thalassotherapy pool and Viking’s famous Snow Grotto, in which snowflakes gently descend from the ceiling as the icy cold kick-starts your circulation. If a traditional spa experience is more your thing, make the most of a melting massage or treatment in the glam hair and beauty salon.
The Explorer’s Lounge is a homely space where you’re equally as encouraged to tuck into a traditional Norwegian breakfast and gourmet lunch at Mamsen’s Deli, as you are to taste your way through the cocktail menu with friends come evening. Double height windows and a position at the very front of the ship promise the best views on board too. Elsewhere you can find tranquillity beneath the canopy of Scandinavian trellised wood in the Wintergarden, where you can indulge in complimentary afternoon tea as good as any you’ll eat in London’s best hotels. Manfredi’s promises freshly prepared pasta dishes and Italian favourites, plus a rather swish private dining area, whilst those reluctant to venture far from the pool can grab a gourmet burger form the Pool Grill instead; the Pancho Villa Burger here is the best we’ve ever eaten at sea, thanks to blue cheese, guacamole, spicy habanero mayo and a side of chilli fries.
With multiple restaurant locations and food choices on board, all of which are included within your cruise fare, there is something for even the most discerning foodie cruiser on board Viking Sun. Enjoy fine dining and worldwide cuisine in the aptly named World Café, which bills itself as a buffet but goes above and beyond the description. Alternatively, opt for intimate setting of the Chef’s Table. Here you’ll find a tempting seven-course tasting menu, served with perfect wine pairings.
The only culinary venue which is not included within your cruise fare is The Kitchen Table and the experience is more than worthy of the extra charge. As much a shore excursion as it is a dining experience, a day at The Kitchen Table will start with a trip into port with your chef, who will choose the ingredients for your evening meal, before you return to the ship and roll up your sleeves to help create the multi-course menu.
Live performances are shown in the theatre, where plush sofas and armchairs promise you’ll see the show in comfort. There’s even a bar just outside the theatre, so you can grab a drink and some popcorn just before the show starts. First-run films are also shown in the theatre and guests are invited to join world-class lectures on everything from history and art lectures, to tasting sessions of vintage wines originating from the destinations on your itinerary. Once your lecture, show or film is over, mingle with like-minded guests in Torshavn – where a rather handsome Rat Pack are on hand to entertain - or choose a quiet corner in the Living Room in which to relax with a drink before turning in for the night.
