Travelmarvel Vega Best of the Balkan 15 day river cruise

This was our third attempt at a APT river cruise as the first 2 were cancelled by Covid 19. It was the first trip abroad since Covid and due to the Ukraine situation until the Sunday before we flew we were expecting to be cancelled.

We are so glad it was not the river cruiser was only on its second cruise since completion and had a few teething problems which were always resolved quickly and efficiently. The ports of call were fascinating and the included tours took us to places and sights we did not even know existed, while logistics were outstanding. The package included all tips and drinks with luncheon and dinner. The wines were local and sourced by a sommelier who although working to a budget knew his trade and supplied us with a fascinating taste experience. All meals were very good and better than some we have had on Ocean Cruises with mains always offering a meat, fish and vegetarian option and a great cheese table at the end of dinner. All members of the hospitality team from the manager down were outstanding.

The only complaints we heard was about the French Balconies which had a drop down window, when some guests thought they would have a Balcony area to sit in, but this was a river cruise. Communication appears to be a little confused as the majority of guest were informed prior to departure that no Covid Tests were necessary prior to boarding, but we did not received this information so paid for private pre departure tests.

The ship was only 3/4 full due to Covid situation and we were informed that the largest proprttion of passengers are Australian but on this cruise 95% were Brits. Would we do another cruise with APT, DEFINITELY.
