Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Once again another great trip very well organised from booking to embarking and then it was just as much to do as you wanted or just relax and be waited on. Nothing was too much trouble we are off again in June

Boudicca although small and compact, it was a very good traditional cruise, all staff were very attentive and willing to make sure we had a very good cruise. The cabin was much better than expected, plenty of wardrobe space and the bathroom facilities were much larger than the very modern ships in our opinion have become more like floating Butlins. Overall a very enjoyable cruise with a good itinerary apart from one port of call.

Brilliant Boudicca

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

I would like to share with you my experience on board Fred Olsen Boudicca, D1722 Scenic Spain 22nd September – 30th September 2017 round trip Liverpool. This was the first time we had used the port of Liverpool and was impressed with how convenient it is for us Northerners. When the car was parked with CPS at the ECHO arena, the stewards took our luggage and we didn’t see again till the cabin. This left...

Superior balcony cabin was no such thing evening entertainment —-very poor food again never experienced such poor offerings ie fish cakes, FISH AND CHIPS(4 chips) SHEPHERDS PIE FOR EVENING MEALS on disembarkation, a £50 per person charge was made for a 4 hour trip around Barbados plus lunch before being dropped at the airport of course, a complete disaster 4hours turned to 2.5 hours delay in leaving, the lunch was served in a shed similar...

Cruising on a building site with no tv
By Ms J C Hopkins on 02 January 2018
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

Braemar Southampton to the Caribbean 6th to 22nd December 2017. Was looking forward to this cruise on a lovely ship out of refit, what a joke. Late boarding in Southampton with no explanation was not a good start. Once on board we found that neither swimming pool and two of the lifts were unusable and the tv did not work. One pool was filled after about a week but the sundeck resembled a building site...

Boudicca badly needs refurbishment, some being done while on cruise but lots of rust visible on all windows. Ship going in dock for some work inn March. Pleased to see that FO has at last provided cushions for the plastic strip sun loungers on deck and hope they have provided them for Braemar as well. It has been a long standing complaint from all users.

BEAUTIFUL BOUDICCA
By Kelsey on 20 November 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

4 nights on the Beautiful Boudicca around Santander and Balboa, two new beautiful destinations I would highly recommend visiting! In Santander and Balboa I took a coach tour to the major attractions. Santander light house – the views here are fantastic, we stopped off at the golden sandy beach then enjoyed a drink at one of the local bars with a view of the sea and Boudicca. In Balboa we visited the Guggenheim museum –...

Boudicca Short Break
By Jessica on 17 November 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Boudicca Reviews

I recently cruised on Fred Olsen’s Boudicca, we flew out to Santander and sailed back into Liverpool. On arrival, we had a bus tour around Santander before embarking on the ship. Although Boudicca is an older ship she had a very warm welcome and the staff were some of the most attentive I have come across while cruising. We had Superior Oceanview cabin which was spacious and has plenty of space to unload our luggage,...

My first time with Fred Olsen Cruises and I had an excellent time my cabin 8028 though a little small was clean comfortable and well serviced there were a couple of rattles and a small amount of vibration but this is expected in an older ship and did not spoil my enjoyment beds were comfortable and I slept well. On board entertainment was very good and I also enjoyed taking part in activites such as...

Cruising in the Aegean Sept 11th – 9th Oct 2017
By Daphne Cliffe on 20 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

Cruising on the Braemar was like joining a big family gathering. The ambience is fantastic, some passengers like old friends. The crew are treasures. To be greeted with “oh yes, half coffee, half hot water ma-am” by our waiter Jury after a two year break was unbelievable. The itinerary was good too (after all that’s why we chose it!!). With fantastic weather, good food and entertainment – what more could one want!!

Islands of the Aegean Oct 2017
By L. Shadbolt on 18 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

The itinerary was very good missed Santorini due to windy weather, the sun was out all day and every day for 26 days out of 28 so no complaints there. The food was not up to Balmorals standard last year but still good. The crew were up to usual high standard of friendliness which was a joy. The main gripe about this cruise was the amount of noise created below our cabin 3064 on deck...

First Timers
By Sharon on 12 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Just returned from a lovely holiday on Balmoral cruising the Norwegian Fjords. We had not travelled with Fred Olsen previously but had a wonderful time. The decor is a little dated but that was the only criticism. The staff were amazing, very courteous and accommodating. The food better than I have experienced with other cruise lines of late. We had a superior suite which had a spacious balcony, absolutely perfect to while away an hour...

Worst cabin on the ship
By Susan Burton on 10 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

I took a friend who had never cruised before on a taster weekend cruise on Balmoral, as it is one of the smaller ships, so that he would see how wonderful cruising was. Although I had booked a double room, we were given the smallest cabin set up as an L shape so much so that it could not be changed round. Needless to say it was awful. As the ship was apparently full, there...

Best cruise experience
By Diane Gill on 06 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

We have been on four cruises previously and plan to go on more. Overall we have enjoyed all our experiences for a variety of different reasons. However this was our best experience so far, food, entertainment and overnight stays were all excellent and of course as with all our previous cruises the staff were superb. The only thing I would change on this particular Scandinavian Capital Cruise would have been a longer stay in Stockholm....

Great summer cruise!
By Charlotte & Ian on 05 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

Having sailed with P&O twice before, we weren’t sure what to expect from Fred Olsen, but we booked the ‘Authentic Andalucia’ cruise aboard Balmoral due to the fantastic itinerary and the ability to sail from Newcastle (much closer to home than Southampton). The best thing about departing from Newcastle is that we parked a short (2 minute) walk from the cruise terminal, and as soon as we pulled up our bags were whisked away to...

Wonderful Fjords
By Lynn Moss on 02 October 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral Reviews

After an easy drive to North Shields, we sailed from Port of Tyne on 8 September 2017. We had booked this cruise to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary on 16 September, we were not disappointed! We found the fjords exceptional, wonderful views and so awe inspiring. The ship cruised so close to the Fjords at times you felt you could reach out and touch the mountains. The people of Norway were so friendly and welcoming...

British Ilses – May 2017
By Nicola on 26 September 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

We had a fantastic time aboard Braemar in May on the British Isles cruise and we were so very lucky with the British weather. We had a Superior Suite 7027 and it was just lovely. We were totally spoilt. We dined in the smaller Grampian restaurant and all the meals on board were delicious and plenty of choice. I loved that there was plenty of room for everyone, lots of comfortable seating up on deck...

Smooth Sailing with Fred. Olsen
By Gemma on 22 September 2017
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar Reviews

Having never sailed with Fred Olsen before I was a little apprehensive for a few reasons. I was concerned that there may not be much to keep the kids entertained & that the passengers may also have been a bit put out by having kids onboard. I also thought that the shows would be quite low key and perhaps tailored towards the generation that Freds draws in. My impressions did a total 360 degree flip!!...
