Royal Clipper in the Grenadines December 2017

Sailing along on Royal Clipper is without a doubt a magnificent experience. What a pity that the rest of the Royal Clipper cruise experience falls well short of the standard we expected. Travelling with four friends who had been on Royal Clipper cruise before we had high expectations – we were all disappointed. This was not a cruise where one felt the cruise staff were anxious to take care of their customers in the best...

Royal Clipper is a wonderful ship to be on especially for a special occasion (my Husband’s BIG birthday). The sailaways were magnificent – atmospheric music (Vangelis – The Conquest of Paradise) being played as the sails unravel and we sailed into the sunset (or the lights on the masts twinkling as we sailed into the darkness). The majority of the staff were very good, our cabin stewardess was excellent and the destinations and trips out...

We spent 14 days on the Star Clipper undertaking back to back cruising, this is unusual as most passengers take just one week aboard the ship. Changeover day is a strange and wasted day, we took the opportunity to go ashore to Kuta and take advantage of free WIFI. This means that Star Clippers can repeat the menu week in week out, which is rather tedious if you are there for 2 weeks. the first...

This was our 4th cruise with Star Clippers. In some ways the least satisfactory, mainly because of timing. The cruise covered over 1100 miles in 12 days which was a lot of time at sea, leaving relatively little time to visit on shore when we docked. There were in addition several times when the ship lay at sea motionless for some hours, presumably waiting for harbour or anchorage times. This is I imagine to reduce the...

We have done numerous cruises previously and as the Monaco GP and Star Clipper were both on the ‘to do’ list so we decided to combine them. We joined Star Flyer in Cannes the check in was straight forward and provision of fruit, water and fruit juice was a nice touch as we waited to embark, on embarkation we were met with a cocktail and canap??s and had a little time to met fellow passengers...

A great experience…aparat from the weather!

Strictly speaking this wasn’t a Caribbean cruise as we started with 3 nights in Havana at the excellent Iberostar Parque Central staying in the old building in a large Colonial style room. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The Concierge was great and managed to get wonderful tickets for the ballet at the newly opened Ballet Theatre (I had called him in advance). Despite torrential rain we loved Havana and enjoyed looking around the...

Wonderful time aboard Star Clippers ‘Royal Clipper’. A fantastic sailing experience that exceeded my expectations by far. Not your usual mass market cruise, Star Clippers offer an intimate sailing where you can truly relax and get to know each of your fellow cruisers. There were approx. 170 passengers aboard and I think I spoke to all of them at some point and everyone said the same, it is a totally different type of holiday but...

We had been toying with a clipper cruise for some time but hadn’t plucked up the courage, however after a last minute cancellation of a river cruise due to low water we only had 3 days to organise something else and the clipper cruise was one of only a few available. So we went for it and had a great time. It is a completely different experience to the normal type of cruise. like P...

As cruise ships get bigger and bigger and become floating resorts with 4000 people on board perhaps it is time to return to real sailing experiences . The Star Clipper has a maximum of 170 people most of whom you will have a chance to meet and talk to you during your week sailing. On our Caribbean sail the captain had the ship under sail almost every day. A true sight to see and experience....

Seeing Royal Clipper in Falmouth Harbour in Antigua was a sight to behold. With its five masts this magnificent sailing ship drew lots of attention from passengers boarding the big white cruise ships. Royal Clipper immediately gave you the impression you were embarking on a truly seafaring experience. The first glimpse was exciting and gave you a real sense of adventure awaiting you. The sun deck too me by surprise. Ignorantly I was expecting a...

Star Clipper was super no issues, the staff , food and service were excellent. A magic experience. We will use them again. Perhaps we should buy the holiday in the USA as they were given 2 cruises for the price on one !!! Could you do this ? The flights with Virgin Atlantic ?? even though we traveled Premier economy the food given was dreadful and the return flight was even worse as was the...
