Top ship, top cruise
Jean Fraser | August 8, 2015 | Celebrity Cruises | Celebrity Eclipse
Having never cruised with Celebrity before we were hoping the ‘Eclipse’ would live up to our expectations. We were not disappointed. From the C3 class embarkation onwards everything was more than we hoped. The ship herself was beautiful, fittings and furnishings of a very high quality and taste, everywhere was spotlessly clean all the time. Our cabin was a bit small but had everything we could want, and we loved the bathroom and the walk in shower – a change from the bath with the clinging shower curtain! The staff in all the innumerable parts of the ship were lovely – friendly and smiling and helpful, we could not fault any one of them – the cabin staff were especially appreciated for their prompt attention to cleaning the cabin etc. and dealing with any requests. Dining in any of the restaurants was a real pleasure – we ate breakfast and lunch as well as dinner in the Moonlight Sonata Restaurant as often as we could – the service was excellent and the food the best we have had on a cruise ship, This does not mean we did not enjoy our visits to the Ocean View Restaurant, we did, and the food and service provided by the staff was equally as good as in the other restaurants. The one crew member who stood out from the rest however, was Sue, the Cruise Director who did such a superb job in co-ordinating all the events that took place day and night. She worked tirelessly but was always ready to talk and answer questions. And she could sing too! The nightly entertainment in the theatre was consistently good, as it was in other venues round the ship. the only thing that spoilt it a little for us was the very loud singing from the Atrium which reached every level of the ship- we even saw people reading in the library wearing ear muffs to stop the noise! A small criticism. The cruise itself was great and we visited such beautiful places on such beautiful days. The tours were handled very efficiently and the guides on the coaches were all wonderful – they spoke very good English, were founts of knowledge but had a great sense of humour – we especially enjoyed Issi’s lovely little tales on the Copenhagen walking tour and Dragor Village.
Special thanks to the Captain who so fearlessly and easily reversed our ship into the ports without so much as a tiny bump on the quayside. Having been boating on the canals of Britain for many years we know how difficult it can be even with a 40 footer!
When it came to disembarkation day the efficiency of what must have been a nightmare of organisation was so slick and seemingly unhurried we felt almost like royalty being led ashore instead of the usual herding down the gangway.
Thank you so much Celebrity – we will definitely see you again.
