Azores & canaries cruise 13th October 2019-24thOctober

Our first cruise, but disappointed to find out Azores was off the agenda due to poor weather conditions. Plenty of emails suggesting upgrading but none to say the cruise visits had changed. Arrival at port and luggage handover, check in and boarding was great, much easier than airports.
Food & staff brilliant with the odd exception. Balcony room small but sufficient & met our expectations. believe ship is to be refurbished at end of season & in one or two places you could see why. Areas for sunbathing plentiful, but so were the sunbeds, so much so that to sit or lay on them you had to crawl over them as there was no room in between them. A walkway for people to exercise went around the top deck, but it felt like the M25 with you trying to sunbathe while “Cars” passed by. The cafe bars were good, efficient and staff excellent, but seating areas insufficient. Due to the time of year weather conditions were not suitable to be outside all the time & so you had to scout around for areas to sit & have a coffee or drink other than in your cabin. Amazing how so May faces in the seats seemed familiar day after day!
Entertainment as average to poor, disco playing modern disco songs when majority of people where over fifty. Live entertainment consisted of a house band who was fairly good & played a good range of music to suit everyone. A jazz band who also was fairly good. The rest was average to poor.
Areas visited included Vigo( instead of the Azores) which was poor, Funchal, Madeira which we would have preferred to have more time to look around as it looked very interesting, Santa Cruz, Tenerife-average, & Lisbon which we where disappointed in.
On embarking the ship everything went very smoothly & staff assisted people as necessary.
On leaving at Southampton everything was smooth, organised & quick. Only disappointment was one of our (new) cases was badly damaged. It had obviously been dropped from a great height. Nevertheless Celebrity dealt with it extremely effectively with forms filled in at the time, attendant informing me to call Celebrity the following day, & customer service dealing with the issue within two minutes on the phone, resulting in a full credit for the cost, nothing short of excellent.
On the whole the cruise was disappointing for us, but I suppose expected, & poor value for money.
