Susan McGee | October 10, 2023 | Celebrity Cruises | Celebrity Silhouette
Firstly we love Silhouette and have sailed on her many times and previously on Eclipse.
The ship as usual was lovely and the crew were excellent, always cheerful and as hardworking as before and are a credit to the line.
The biggest disappointment for us (and many others) was the quality and choice of food in the MDR. During our 13 night cruise in September for the main course calves liver was served 3 times, Irish stew at least twice and nearly every main came with mashed potato. The second (and final) Evening Chic night menu included lamb, which was tough according to the guest at the next table. He sent his back twice and refused a replacement and our herb crusted haddock was lukewarm which was sent back. Also don’t like that every night there was filet mignon or lobster tail charged at around $20 each.
Entertainment was poor, we had seen the shows and some of the acts previously.
Given all this and the fact that a similar cruise at the same time next year is over £1100 more each I’m afraid that we shall be giving Celebrity cruises a miss for some time. We always used to praise the food in particular but it was very disappointing on this trip.
On the plus side weather was good and destinations varied.
