Our fourth cruise with P & O, this time on the Ventura to Spain and Italy for 14 nights in October 2019. Balcony cabin very comfortable, cabin steward friendly and polite at all times and cabin clean and nothing forgotten. We had to ask for flannels but understand this a new policy that they are only given on request. Ship very clean and public area kept area generally in good condition. Dinning was good but we felt the food had declined, small portions and very little in the way of vegetables or salad. On the black tie evenings the tables were no longer dressed nicely with black plates, as on our previous cruises. Also found the buffet area (deck 15), badly organised to get around, resulting in people going back and forth and not moving smoothly.
The theatres could not cope with the numbers wishing to see the shows, in order to get a seat you had go to the theatre an hour before commencement. Headliners were very good for such a young troupe. Serious Sounds also very good and got people up dancing. Comedians very weak with old jokes and sometimes a bit to rude. Seats set aside for those less mobile were often used by the able bodied and staff did not do anything to enforce this.
P & O certainly organise trips very well and all our tours went well and where very interesting. The only negative is the Panoramic trip to Rome was a waste of time as the coach ‘whizzed’ by the main attractions. It would have been nice to have had some opportunities to take photographs as has been our experience on other coach tours.
Felt there was a definite reduction in staff and that they were under a lot more time constraints but on the whole were still polite. Felt the push on board to book another cruise was excessive, even the Captain was piped into our cabins advising us how to do this.
