Excellent Baltic Cruise the highlight of which was the two days in St Petersburg. The Crown Princess was in good condition and the staff as helpful as always. Boarding was very quick with plenty of staff checking in. Easy to find our way around the ship as we had been on her sister ship, Emerald Princess in November 2016. We used ship tours for transport into Bruges and Gdansk otherwise we either walked in or for St Petersburg we used a private company, Alla Tours. They lived up to their excellent reviews. Only 14 people on a brand new minibus with free wifi, an excellent guide who made sure we avoided the queues as far as possible. A packed lunch was provided on the first day and lunch on the second day was in a hotel. A bonus was it was half the price of the ships tours.
We met up with 4 friends and had any time dining and never had a problem obtaining a table. Others had to wait for a table for 2. A downside was the formal nights when people were allowed in the dining room in open-necked shirt and in one case jeans. We used the Crown Grill once and had wonderful steaks, well worth the 29 dollar surcharge. The crab shack was also good although the portions were huge. The usual collection of moaners were on board. The best was the comment in the book in the library about the lack of hosted bridge and they were never going to sail with
Princess again and underneath someone had written ‘get a life’.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves thanks to the booking process with Bolsover and the quality product of Princess Cruises.
