BALMORAL IN THE CANARIES

This is the first time I have been with Fred Olsen and travelled with my husband and 6 year old child. We were fully aware that there would be no childrens facilities as we went outside children’s holiday’s. We chose the Balmoral as it was the biggest and and best ship facility wise and chose the canaries for the weather, we were not disappointed. We used Portlink to take us from Southampton , once we put our cases on we knew we would not see them until we got onboard .The check in procedure was very quick and within minutes we were onboard. We were greeted at the gangway by numerous staff memebers with a welcoming and genuine smile and hello. They directed us to our cabin and was greeted by Audi our cabin stewardess . The cabin was a bit more basic in decor than other ships but the amenities and wardrobe space made up for it.
Wherever we went on the ship the staff members would always say Good Morning/Afternoon etc.What amazed us was that they called you by your first names and they remembered what cabin you were in and what drink you have. The food onboard in the Ballindalloch and the Palm’s buffet was some of the best food I have tasted there was a wide range to choose from and catered for everybody.The entertainment was never repeated they had a comedian , violinist, Soul Singer plus their own Balmoral Show group. In the daytime there was so much going on activity wise virtually every 30mins from Lectures, Quiz’s , demonstrations bowling, craft classes etc.My 6 year old was never bored the staff were amazing with hi. I would recommend anyone with a young child to go on Fred Olsen without a doubt .
In a nutshell the Balomoral exceeded all our expectations they have a real homely feel it is really intimate and personal and you were treat like royalty even though it was our first time on the ship we were treat like we were had been sailing for years. We cannot wait to go back on .
