R & R
Jenny Hampshire | August 26, 2016 | Fred Olsen Cruise Lines | Balmoral
We are regular cruisers but have been unable to travel recently due to illness. After the long cold winter we were ready for some sun. We booked very late and ended up with a suite on Balmoral. We really enjoyed our accommodation. On warm sea days we relaxed on the balcony, took a little rest when we wanted to and enjoyed copious cups of tea. The odd biscuit wouldn’t have gone amiss but my figure is better for this omission.
The itinerary was excellent. The Azores and La Palma particularly beautiful, but my favourite was Lisbon. We shall return there for a land based holiday.
The food on the ship was very good. The waiters were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. One strange custom was the making of the bed. During day the steward placed the duvet flat on the bed but each evening it was left folded on the bed? This meant that we had to remake the bed each night. Strange?
Entertainment was not very good, in fact the best performer was Juliet Taco who was a member of the crew. She had a wonderful voice, did Whitney,Tina Turner et al.
Other members of the crew also performed and were very good.
