This was our first cruise with Fred Olsen. We had a premier suite which was really lovely. Decor throughout was excellent. Food overall was good but only ever 2 starter choices! Also if you opted to go to the Palms cafe for dinner, the food was very limited and often dried up or lukewarm. The cafe is way too small for the guests. People were bumping into one another everywhere and there was often a long queue at breakfast to get in. This was annoying because once we were inside, we saw lots of free tables that had obviously been missed by the overworked waiters.
All inclusive not bad value but the upgrade to premium drinks at £25per day was not worth the money. Very friendly staff with the exception of an English woman at the excursions office who was quite rude when I asked if I could purchase a British newspaper in Hamburg.”No chance” was her abrupt reply as she turned away and yet I did get a Daily Mail in the city! Also our stewardess Carolyne was not over friendly and every day she left the ring marks from a cup of coffee by the bedside table. She walked in one morning at 9am when my husband was getting dressed. I asked her why she did not observe the do not disturb sign. She said it was on the floor so she took a chance that we were out! Not acceptable! However, despite these glitches we would probably do a short cruise with this company again. Finally, daytime activities were mainly talks and lessons which was not what we were interested in but this is purely personal. Thank you to a great reception staff who were always friendly and helpful.
