Hawaiian cruise

Princess Cruises | Star Princess Reviews

Just returned from a long awaited Princess cruise to Hawaii. Overall an excellent cruise with great service, food and fabulous entertainment. The ship is looking a bit tired and in need of a refit although we understand the ship is being passed onto P & O Australia soon so not surprising that maintenance was minimal. There are a lot of sea days 5 to get there and 5 back which is something we wouldn’t do again even though there was plenty of activities during these days. Weather was bright but not as warm as we expected so sunbathing was not an option during the sea days unless you wrapped up for the films at sea, we definitely needed more colder weather clothes than the t shirts and shorts we had packed. The islands are pretty although we thought Honolulu too commercialised for our liking except the pearl harbour trip is a must. Maui was our favourite island and wouldn’t hesitate to visit there again. Clientele was quite aged with many needing mobility aids, we are not so young ourselves at 65 but reckon we were one of the younger set on this cruise. This wasn’t a problem but did surprise us. We thought the entertainment was excellent and better than a lot of cruises we have done & thought the food was an improvement from other Princess cruises we have done. Tried freedom dining for the 1st time and found the flexibility a big positive so we will definitely do this in future. Lots of positives with a few negatives but overall an excellent cruise.
