Maasdam Jan 27 – 28 March 2014

Onboard Maasdam Jan 27 to March 28 2014.

On thing I have learn me is to check if the price have been changed 3 month prior to the cruise,this is the same last day to cancel the cruise or rebooked the cruise to a better price.But you must let them know, they don’t upgrade any if not told so! I ended up paying 3000 USD more for a inside single stateroom than what two people did for a simular stateroom.
Not enough that I was unhappy to have been paying much more than others. My stateroom become after one month in to the cruise to be the stateroom from hell! I had stateroom 786 on deck 4, midships.Without any notice someone started some kind of machine under my cabin. I had earplugs with me, but for some other reason. But they was not enough, I ended up resting in the night outside on deck or in any sofa in any bar.With help of a pillow and towel I was able to sleep some hours. I informed the front office and wonder was going on below my cabin. After a day I had a message on the phone asking me if I still had the problem. Why asking me? They promise to conduct an investigation!!Some days the machine was running for 24 hours some days just for a few. and some was quiet. Was it an extra boiler or any kind of machine for cleaning water? If so they should have evacuate the cabin above it.I di dent have the strange to confront the front office and convince them of my problem. They looking and smiling and it seams the answer come from a book from Holland America Line.
I will alert anyone from book this stateroom or any room close to it.
I can also mention that is no fridge in the room. First cruise for me without one.
I pre payed most of my land tours + 400 dollar to be spent onboard. When I come onboard I credit my account with 800 USD, later I notice I payed 113 dollar to much.Belive it or not, I was told told they cant pay me back before disembarkation, even in this case its my money! Its make no sens!
We had the gastric flue onboard for around 14 days, but that is not the ships fault.
There was of course things on the ship I liked,the always smiling Asian crew. The food they put on my plate looks and tasted so good. The cabin steward how always was around, even if I di dent need anything. There is things to do on the ship for everyone, the entertainment onboard was also OK, but no more.

Perhaps will I use Holland America Line again as I have done earlier but never MAASDAM.
