Have just returned from a 2-week cruise around Indonesia on the MS Volendam. The holiday/ship were both excellent. The ship has recently been refurbished and it was noticeable – a more modern feel to it. Staff in the bars and dining area, in particular, were always helpful and pleasant, some of the nicest staff I have come across.
The food in all areas was excellent. The dining room, in particular, provided an excellent range and quality of food. The entertainment wasn’t the best, but that may be down to my personal choice.
The weather was amazing. Choice of excursions in a couple of the ports was quite limited and I did find the cost of the trips a little bit pricey compared to other cruises that I have done. However, each of the excursions I did was thoroughly enjoyable.
Overall, an excellent holiday and I had no fault with the service provided by Holland America.
