The cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver was amazing. Panama Canal is a ‘must experience’ destination! The ship (even in a force 10 gale with 20-foot waves) was as steady as a rock.
Excursions varied, crew – at all levels friendly and courteous. Music and shows on board were superb.
The 22-day cruise we booked actually was 15 to LA then a 7 day “cheap” repositioning cruise – this we should have been aware of as there were no port lectures on 4 available sea days – I have queried this with Princess.
Our only real niggle was the travel out and home. After a good 8hrs 8mins flight from Manchester to Atlanta by Virgin Atlantic, we were then held standing in a 3 hour queue for Immigration. The thousands of travelers like us all missed their onward flight times. Staff at Atlanta (except Delta Airline and Baggage handlers) were not interested at all. (Whether retired folk, or with small or tiny children). Only 3 of 15 Passport desks were manned. No electronic desks open. Fortunately for us, our flight to Miami was delayed eventually by 2 hours as the Pilot was also struggling to get through the airport. Our direct return flight from Vancouver to Manchester was late, leaving but its the only airline I have used that turns the AirCon to its coldest and then offers blankets for sale, together with headsets to hear the few films on offer! Atlanta and Transat are now off our travel plans!
