Made it at last!
STEPHEN BOTHAM | November 7, 2022 | P&O Cruises | Aurora
After 5 cancellations for various reasons (the best being, “Sorry you cannot come on your cruise, we have sold the ship – Oceana), until I was on the ship, I refused to believe this would holiday would happen, but everything went well. Sure, there was the evidence of Carnival/P&O cost saving which some of the regular cruises winged about. I am not that fussed about a chocolate on my pillow at night or even a Cruise blog and view this as one of the prices we pay for a cheaper headline cruise cost. The entertainment we found was good, in that we normally found something to our taste. We sampled each of the specialist dining options which were superb. A shame all passengers did not have the chance to sample “Sindhu”. It closed part way through the cruise due to the specially trained chef having to leave the ship due to a family bereavement, no replacement was available. Aurora is getting old and despite a recent overhaul in some places shows it, nothing serious just details. The size of the Aurora appeals to many people who are not keen on the new mega liners. There was certainly an older clientele on this cruise, but we expected that with this being a child free ship and it being October. This was not a problem as we realise we are getting older too and made allowances to help less able people and move at a slower place, its not hard. We both enjoyed this holiday. Things were not perfect; we did not expect them to be. But, Hey! it was still great! Already have future cruises booked with P&O can’t say anything better than that!
