Azura first cruise
Adele Bell | January 23, 2020 | P&O Cruises | Azura
Had a brilliant time on Azura. The itinerary was great visited some lovely islands and got loads of time in port.
Mostly an older crowd but that wouldn’t put us off going again with P&O. Some seasoned cruisers were complaining about the entertainment but we thought it was great with a wide variety of shows, singers etc. The sea screen around the pool was particularly good with live sport and loads of latest films.
Food was excellent , particularly in Sindhu and The Glass House, although I did have to send some soup and porridge back in the main restaurant as it was cold. If you have dietary requirement they are incredibly accommodating. I have a nut allergy and cannot eat gluten and onions and I pre ordered the night before and the meals made to suite my needs (still with loads of choice).
We also found the drinks well priced, particualry the wines, we paid between ?15.50 and ?18 most nights. Whisky was ?3.25 and a glass of Prosecco under ?4.
We had an inside cabin which was kept incredibly clean with complementary shower gel and shampoo. I would say the bathroom needed a refurb as the sink was cracked. We were originally worried about having an inside but we are very glad we put the extra money we saved towards trips ashore. We only got changed and slept in the cabin and most people we spoke to didn’t use the balconies much anyway.
We always did trips independently which saved us a fortune and allowed us to have more flexibility. As long as you leave plenty of time there is nothing to worry about, just arrange a pick up time with a taxi driver, beware local transport not always reliable.
Only complaint is the airline, Thomas Cook. Had to pay ?4 per person each way to watch decent entertainment and there was no gluten free meal available on return flight despite being ordered.
