We boarded the Azura in June this year for a cruise to Belfast, the Scottish Islands and Iceland.. We booked late so cabin was allocated a few weeks before and our dinner sitting was allocated once on board. We were allocated second sitting which was a bit late and we would have preferred freedom dining but as we booked late we didn’t get to choose. We did ask if we could swop to first sitting and within 24 hours our request had been granted.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Scottish Islands and the weather was warm and sunny but you imagine how bleak it could look in the winter. While we were on the cruise the Brexit vote was declared which caused many a discussion with fellow passengers most of whom seemed to be in favour of the outcome if some what surprised.
Iceland is beautiful and the roads are empty it must be a dream to drive over there. The people are extremely friendly even though whilst we were there the England Iceland match was being played that evening. The icelanders to be fair didn’t think they had a chance of winning it would have been nice to have been able to see their joy when they beat us.
The whole cruise was lovely, food good, lovely ship and I would really recommend this trip to anyone who would like to try something a bit different. Bear in mind though it is very cold in Iceland. As someone said to us they have two seasons… July and Winter.
