Four nights on board Azura
Linda Firth | May 19, 2019 | P&O Cruises | Azura
We booked through Bolsover Cruise Club because it is so easy and we have always received excellent customer service from them. We cruised from Southampton to Bruges and Guernsey and had a lovely balcony cabin on Azura. Friends of ours who were cruise virgins came along to see if they liked this sort of holiday. It was a great success and they really enjoyed it and said that they felt that they had been away for a full week they felt so relaxed. We had cruised before, including P & O’s 175th anniversary cruise, when the weather ruined all the special celebrations which had been organised so we were hoping the weather would be better for us this time and it was.
Embarkation was smooth, we simply drove up to the docks, friendly staff off loaded our luggage and parked the car for us. No hassle at all and so much easier than trying to park at the airport, catch the bus to the terminal, lift heavy suitcases etc and then queue at the airport check in. No children pushing their knees in the back of your seat either!
We were quickly having the most beautiful lunch before settling in to our cabin. It didn’t seem five minutes before we were sailing away in the sunshine. Dining in the evening was a lovely experience with attentive waiters and the most gorgeous food. Entertainment was top class including Russell Watson and this just rounded off the evenings nicely.
During the day it was warm enough to sunbathe and we even watched Andy Murray on the big screen win at Wimbledon! Sipping a cocktail in the sun, what more could you want?
We disembarked in Bruges and Guernsey. I had never visited either of these places before. We took a taxi into Bruges, not expensive. Bruges was lovely, a sort of little Venice and we sat and had a beer and then later had the most delicious waffles, strawberries and ice cream on the square. Our friends really enjoyed Bruges. In Guernsey I couldn’t leave without sampling their famous ice cream, we had a walk around the many small boutique shops, very laid back and interesting.
If you want to try cruising or simply take a quick break away then this is the ideal sort of cruise for you. I know that you won’t be disappointed.
