Not really a family cruise
Miss Deborah Hancock | November 7, 2017 | P&O Cruises | Azura
Recently returned from a transatlantic cruise from Southampton to Barbados, having a little boy who is 23 months old, we found him too young for the 0 to 2’s and just right for the 2to 5’s, although he wasn’t interested in all the activities, he did love the soft play area and there was lots of space in the room as there weren’t too many children in there.. Unfortunatley the outside play area with the little tike cars, which he loves, was only used twice a day for 30 mins, once before dinner and again before teatime.I feel this was a bit of a waste, don’t get me wrong the staff were amazing and they worked very hard, and there was always an activity, but with being at sea for 9 days altogether we were a bit desperate for some fresh air. This is because there is nothing else for kids to do, the kids pool is so tiny that if there were 4 of more in there it was too much, the little pool that surrounded was never open at sea, due to it apparantly flooding the kids room. A bit of a design fault there..Also the main pools are so deep that you cant stand up in them meaning we couldn’t take him in there either.. There is nowhere else for them to be only in the kids club, which for a lot of parents it suited them as the poor kids were there morning noon and night, we on the other hand wanted to spend time with our son.. So to review I would not cruise P and O again, we have been with Royal Caribbean as a couple a few times, and would say that they have all that familys need on their ships.. Azura may be friendly but unless you are happy dumping your kids in the club all holiday , this isn’t the cruise line for you..
