Very good but some things could be better

P&O logistics are very good. You do not have to worry about your luggage, and that is a great relief; much better than trudging for two hours through the American immigration facilities.
We have been using P&O since 2002, and it is very evident that the American influence has not been for the better. Our cabin steward had 20 cabins to look after without any assistance. Apparently, there is a shortage of assistants. Whilst the cabin was always clean, it did not seem to sparkle as it used to. We cannot blame the steward, he worked very hard and was always cheerful, and it seems that he does not get his pre-paid tips unless everything on the customer survey card at the end is marked as ‘excellent’ as far as the cabin is concerned. He was excellent, but I wonder if the CEOs of P&O and Carnival have their bonuses based on whether they get everything marked excellent as well as financial results. Bet they don’t.
This is the first time that we have not had ‘silver service’ at dinner, and that is a shame; the availability of vegetables does not seem to be as it was. The service in the dining rooms was also slower than hitherto. Again, the suspicion falls on staff cuts, because the waiters don’t stop for a second. Don’t ask for vanilla ice cream in Sindhu because you won’t get it.
The layout in Manhattan is dreadful. Unless you get there early, you are not guaranteed a seat that will allow you to see the act direct as opposed to a screen above your head. Shame that it is not tiered.
So what was good? Well, most of it. The ship is comfortable, clean and welcoming. Despite the cut backs, the staff work very hard and overall provide a very good service.
I would recommend P&O, but am wary about what else will be reduced to American standards.
