Britannia 7 night trip to Liverpool & back
J Davenport | September 13, 2021 | P&O Cruises | Britannia
After reading other reviews we were a bit apprehensive about what we were letting ourselves in for but in the end we really enjoyed it. Yes there were niggles but in the grand scheme of things, they were not major complaints.
Felt embarkation was very organised. Took about 1.45 mins which is not bad considering the processes we had to go though. Disembarkation was a dream. So quick. Suppose that was because the ship was only half full due to COVID measures.
We didn’t eat in the main restaurants every day. We did Sindhi (enjoyed), Epicuran (disappointment as cod was barely cooked), The Glass House (fantastic food – ate there 3 times). We found the main restaurant food uninteresting but others love it so it’s all about personal preference. When we did eat in them, we booked for 6.15 pm so no queuing problems for us. We only used the buffet for breakfast & some of the food is good, some is poor. The bacon & toast tend to dry out under the heated hot plates so beware.
We did an afternoon tea in the Meridian restaurant one day but found it very rushed & the sandwiches & cakes uninspiring.
The app never crashed for us but it did say venues were unavailable to book but when you went to reception, places were always available. There are definitely glitches with it but don’t let it get to you. Go to reception & they will sort it.
The shows we saw we enjoyed although the show Astonishing, whilst enjoyable was not really astonishing! Staff mostly pleasant & helpful. We did notice lots of little cost cutting things compared to past cruises which is disappointing but basically it comes down to this really, the cruise industry have not earned any money in the past 18 months & they need to get earning again & recoup some of their losses. The prices are reasonable in the circumstances & of course the booze is so much cheaper with P&O than the American based lines. Overall we were happy.
