Cruise on Iona
Judith Magill | September 13, 2021 | P&O Cruises | Iona
Although meals and service on Iona were up to the standard we are used to from P&O we didnt like the Iona. Everything seemed to be designed to keep us inside and probably spending money at the bar. The best pool was under a glass dome so the the temperature soared when the sun was out. Why no large outside pool and sunbeds? The sunbeds were on deck 8 the Promenade deck so space was limited due to it being a thoroughfare. Fore and aft deck 16 (?) had two small pools and bars but the winds were very strong so not a pleasant place to sit for a drink. The ship was beautifully designed inside, especially the Atrium. The night clubs and theatre were good. Headliners were brilliant as usual, so was Craig Stuart. We had an inside cabin which was the smallest we have ever been in. Booking for meals was horrendous. Apparantly meals and the theatre could be booked by app but by the time we found this out on the Sunday all shows for 8,30 were booked for the week. Meals time were also booked by app. One night we were told we were 26 in the queue so the four of us ordered a drink in the Atrium only to get a message before the drinks arrived that we were now number 1 and had 15 minutes to take the slot! My brother has difficulty walking at speed so that was nightmare. Apparantly the 25 in front wanted a table for 2 so we leapfrogged. Utter madness. We wont be going on Iona again. Roll on June for the Ventura!
