IONA G307 Cruise 18th March 2023

Lovely ship, lovely friendly staff and good food and service. The Freedom Dining was not welcome and it was often difficult to reserve a table on the App in one of the four restaurants that did not involve additional costs. All other restaurants charged a cover charge or additional charges depending what you ordered. The Epicurean restaurant charged an additional cover charge of £28 per person which made it very expensive to eat in most restaurants over the fortnight. Alcohol and room service also very expensive. This was my 15th P&O cruise and the first which was not automatically fully inclusive for food. Not even bathrobes provided as were previously so had to buy a couple. Overall very expensive trip due to additional charges on board which was very disappointing. It appears to be aimed at the younger more tech savvy customers.
Also disappointing was the lack of cocktail parties for Peninsula club members, apparentley not held on Arvia or Iona. Also having been advised by Bolsover Cruises that there were two black tie/celebration nights per week there was only one, hence packing unnecessary outfits.
