35 night cruise on Ventura
Hogg | January 11, 2023 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
This was not our original choice of cruise, but due to illness, covid and family obligations, it seemed a good value for money and took us away for Christmas and New Year.
We had a suite on riviera deck. Very comfortable. Well appointed. Extremely well looked after by our lovely cabin steward. We had two butlers, the first going home when we reached Barbados. Not sure what all they are supposed to do. But anything we asked for was provided. Suite guests still get a turndown service and chocolates on the pillow.
Personally we found the food in the main dining rooms to be fine. Being suite passengers we used the Epicurean for breakfast. A big plus.
We only used the buffet a couple of times for early breakfast before trips.
Very much a scrum, horrible coffee. Personally we enjoyed our festive meals.
Tried all the speciality restaurants. Excellent food and service.
We always enjoy the entertainment on board. This time the headliners were poor, terrible female singers. Pulse had excellent musicians, but again poor female singer. There was a couple unfunny comedians. The speakers were excellent, but always on in the mornings. We are not quiz folk, there appeared to be many throughout the day.
We booked trips from home with P&O. Enjoyed all we did.
Fellow passengers were of the more mature age group, though some children onboard. We heard of several incidents, fights, stealing from shops etc.
Lots of moans from passengers, things are not the same, cutbacks, etc. The best thing about P&O is the staff. Unfailing cheerful, helpful and uncomplaining.
Ventura is going in for a refit soon. Some of the public areas need to be refreshed.
Probably would not go on Ventura again.
Maybe try another cruise line.
