c steward | March 31, 2014 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
We enjoyed our holiday 15th Feb to 1st Mar on Ventura, but reading other reviews we totally agree with comments regarding food not as good as on previous cruise, also Headliners shows identical to 2012 so didnt go to all of them, comedians overall where good, the highlight of all the shows was Gareth Oliver the ventriloquist he was most excellent, the cabaret singers where also very good as where the musicians on board.
Also every thing seems to have gone up with a bump, drinks small can of tonic 75p now 90p quite a jump, last year we where able to take a bottle from duty free shop on board to enjoy in the cabin, now it will cost you ?24 from room service needless to say we passed on this one !!
We also opted out of the daily tipping to your on board statement, prefering to give it to the staff ourselves, you tip good service after you have recieved it not before.
Please don’t let me get started on the sunbed other than to say every day in the Horizon paper they made a point regards towel would be removed from beds to stop them being saved, this was the best joke of the 2 weeks, i’d save the ink on the paper, it was never implemented, thank goodness we had a balcony.
Our flight was Thompsons First Choice we had to pay ?15 to ensure our sitting together, don’t agree with this!! last year we where give a free drink, in the morning then wine with dinner not this year just the wine at dinner more or less had to beg a soft drink instead of the wine which was brought more or less after i had finished my meal, no one in the nine hour flight came round with water.
Some one commented whilst on the cruise that P&O had up all the prices to pay for the insurance for the Costa ship ??
I know this sounds doom and gloom but i said at the start we did have a good time and enjoyed all the Islands and the friendly people, i’m sure when Ventura go’es in for the refit at the end of the month it will transform her from the tired feel to her former glory.
