For our 5th cruise we booked on the Ventura. A larger ship about 3000 passengers. Overall the ship was smart ,in it’s new livery on the front, clean and neat inside. The cabin , our outside upgraded to a restricted view which was over a lifeboat. The waiters and cabin staff were excellent and polite with added humour often. The strictly theme was vey good, Joanna and Giovanni on week one, Kevin and his missus on week two. Plus the shoes and clothes by DSI and dresses on display that the stars had worn were amazing. There were however some negatives. 1. The atrium is not a proper or safe dancefloor. My wife had her arm scratched because of the overcrowding and our friend had her foot raked quite badly by a womens stiletto. Also the stair rails ending on the dance area are just waiting to gore you! 2. The centre pool area and others have day long noise blasted at you, some might call it pop music, but during your lunch it is maddening, I couldn’t concentrate to read with the annoying racket. 3. If you plan to go to the theatre, you need to be there a minimum of 30 minutes before the show starts as the theatre is not big enough to cope with 3000 people. I saw people being turned away, rather sad. In future we will try to avoid the large ships- I am told that Britannia is no better.
I feel that P & O are dumbing down, heading towards Butlins at sea, perhaps fish and chips and beer and kiss me quick hats, Pleeeze.
Time for a rethink at the next refit, maybe listen to some of the older generation after all we are the ones who pay your wages.
