wonderful destinations with splendour

Just returned from a great 8 day cruise to the eastern med on Splendour of the Seas. It was our third Royal Caribbean cruise and the second on a ship of this size.

We appreciated the effort by all staff who were very friendly and helpful. The aerial shows in the centrum whilst a novelty we felt fell a bit flat! We wished more use had been made of the top hat lounge – much better for dancing and more seats. The centrum still has cumbersome seating and not many people could sit. It was a shame as the ship seemed to centre a lot of the entertainment around this point.

Food was exceptionally good especially in the dining room. We have been cruising with P and O quite a lot so we tend to compare and were overall very satisfied with Splendour.

The only annoyance was that on the formal nights at least half of the people seemd to be in casual clothes. When I called Bolsover before our departure, they said two formal nights. My husband was the only man on our table in a tuxedo and bow tie. It is very embarrassing for those who have made the effort to dress up.

We feel it should be one thing or the other, formal or casual, not a mixture of both! This would never happen on P and O.

We thought the live music was very good and always enjoy the fact there is music in plenty around the ship. However, we did feel that the in house singers and dancers and their shows in particular were not as good as most of the ships we have been on. The Brialliance of the Seas has excellent shows and entertainers.

In spite of the grumbles we had a great holiday, and we could not fault the organisation, both on embarkation and departure and also on arrival at the various ports.
