P&O Cruises Ship Review Arcadia Reviews

Arcadia is a mid-sized cruise ship exclusively for adults. Combining the chic with the classic, Arcadia offers a wonderful blend of features. With one main restaurant, a grill restaurant from Marco Pierre White and the luxury of Sindhu, in addition to an expansive spa with thermal suite and hydro-therapy pool, a three-tiered theater and a boutique cinema, she offers more than a hint of extravagance.

Needs a major refit
By David Scott on 08 November 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Overall we enjoyed our cruise holiday. However to be critical Arcadia is in need of a major refit and refurbishment. Our balcony on E deck looked quite grubby. The handrail was devoid of any varnish the floor needed a good clean as did the aluminium surrounds and the white dividing panels had rust runs down them. There were many rust spots on various metal surfaces too. The cabin interiors are beginning to look quite drab. Soft...

Very interesting time had by all!!
By Jackie Holland on 19 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Hope you are prepared for this! We started well, a very quick check in and cases already in cabin when we arrived. It was windy and cold when we left so no real sail away party. Usual lifeboat drill, with cabin cards being checked to make sure everyone attended (a bit of a shambles in the theatre with some people who didn’t show their card and never got asked for it). Then back to complete...

North America and Canada 10th September 2017
By Michael Graham on 16 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Probably the worst cruise we have ever been on. Across the atlantic to New York was uneventful until arrival at New York. Disembarkation was horrendous -taking most of the day as far as we were concerned. Next day was in port and then before we left we had an announcement that Bar Harbour (the next Port of call) was cancelled – apparently due to swell and getting tenders off – we heard later in conversation...

Taking the rough with the smooth.

Arcadia 10th Sept – 4th Oct 2017 – America/ Canada cruise. Interesting cruise with a mixture of weather. Only managed five ports out of eight due to bad weather and loss of an engine pod at Halifax with overnight repairs being carried out by divers working in freezing water. Unfortunately we were running away from approaching hurricane. This gave the Captain no alternative but to alter the ports of call. We fully understood his reasons...

Disaster
By Chris on 12 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

From beginning to end of our 24 cruise to New England aboard Arcadia (P&O) we found a total shambles. The muster station announcement disappeared half way through and had to overhead out from a crew member. The ports of call were changed at whim or cancelled because of the weather which of course could not be controlled. The ship broke down for 24 hours in a very uninspiring port of call. Ports were curtailed to...

Poor cruise in all aspects apart from entertainment, sloppy from top to bottom sadly, the weather being the least of the problems.

Do Not Book A Cruise On This Ship…
By Karen Yates on 12 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

This ship is in dire need of refurbishment and should not be allowed to sail in its current state. Blocked public toilets, poor maintenance, the air conditioning and heating was patchy throughout the ship with some areas hot and others too cold. The company policy is to put customer safety first and consequently we did not stop at any tender ports due to the weather but the company was quite happy to let the ship...

10/9/17 cruise to New York and Quebec
By Chris Wright on 12 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Never have I been on such a large ship before and never with so many passengers grumbling about the state of the ship, the lack of leadership from the captain who was conspicuous by his absence, the changes to the itinery and the weather. P&O are not responsible for the weather, but this ship is due for a refit shortly and not before time. Problems started before we left Southampton during the safety briefing. The...

Disappointed with our cruise
By Mary on 12 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Problem on ship, private and public toilets regularly, out of order. Evening show very good, everything else boring began to think a no kids ship then the rest of us must be dead. New York, immigration and Trump in town caused havoc, trip booked total waste of money. Lost three ports, only stayed one day in ports we should’ve had two. Rope wrap round propeller. Weather was rubbish, storms etc. can’t blame the ship for...

An Unforgetable Experience

We were just unfortunate to meet the tail end of Hurricane Jose. Therefore experiencing strong winds and very high seas which meant that our itinerary had to be cut short. P&O have compensated us very well for this unfortunate situation.

‘Sod’s Law’

P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Arcadia. Sept-Oct 2017. J715. USA/Canada ‘Sod’s Law’……..If things were going to go ‘pear-shaped’ on this cruise, it did. In isolation, some of the issues are not too serious, but collectively, it turned into a nightmare cruise. It was a nightmare cruise for P&O, the crew and staff (majority did well), and obviously and in particularly the passengers. I will try and be brief….Up to force 9 gales all the way across the Atlantic, so a...

The USA and Canada on Arcadia
By Stuart Charlesworth on 11 October 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

We were so looking forward to this cruise because of the fantastic itinerary. Things started to unravel, unfortunately, as early as the ship’s muster before we left Southampton. The captain, speaking very slowly and with long breaks between sentences, disappeared completely part-way through, leaving a flustered Theatre Company singer, as muster station head in our section of the restaurant, to complete it. First stop was the vibrant city of New York: there weren’t very many...

Excellent cruise

P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Places we visited were quite interesting. We probably won’t go back to them however, mainly because of the weather!! We only had 5 days at sea and there was plenty to do on the ship so we didn’t get bored. The ship although a little worn in some places, was very comfortable and all staff worked really hard to give us an excellent holiday.

Mediterranean Cruise with P&O Cruises
By Heather and John Williams on 30 August 2017
P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

This is our ninth cruise with P&O and we were very disappointed. Our mini suite was not clean, the basin was chipped and the enamel was worn in several places and the silicone in the bathroom was worn and black. The air condition unit was very noisy and blew out ice cold air onto the bed. I was told this was normal although they came and taped up some of the holes in the unit....

Room for improvement

P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

We sailed to the Mediterranean on Arcadia 6th August 2017. I had read some poor reports about Arcadia i.e leaks all over the ship, decorating going on, nasty smells e.t.c. I have to say that none of this affected me. I saw one bucket collecting water from the ceiling in the Rising Sun pub and that was it. The ship itself is not brand new and sparkling or ultra modern. I expect some of this...

This cruise ticked every box.

P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

Our cruise was booked chiefly to celebrate a landmark birthday and what a good choice it was. The Arcadia and the entire crew provided excellent service and did everything required to ensure we enjoyed a most memorable holiday. The only port we found disappointing was the first call, Portimao. After that all ports had much to offer in their own right and the excursions we booked were well worth it. This was only our second...

Western Med on Arcadia

P&O Cruises | Arcadia Reviews

We have just returned from a delightful 2 week cruise on Arcadia from Southampton to the Western Med. Arcadia is our favourite P&O ship and although she is showing signs of wear, still offers a very nice experience. The plumbing has entered that interesting stage where it is ready for an engineering refit but we were never particularly inconvenienced. We did an Iceland cruise on Arcadia in August 2016 and booked thus cruise when on...

Arcadia is one of our favorite ships in the P&O fleet but it sorely needs a little tlc. It is looking tired and we understand is to go for a partial refit later this year. In our opinion it needs a total refit. Several of the public toilets were broken and at times smelled a lot and we understand this had been the case before we boarded. We also wish the “Headliners” would learn some...
