Dress code
By ANDREW FARRANT on 03 September 2018
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

The dress code for dinner was the worst I have seen in 25 years of cruising. We had 800 from USA, 700 Aussie’s and 500 British and a mixture from everywhere else. These people tried to get into formal dinner in shorts!!!! What the hell is going on? These people are told before, during and after booking what the dress code is and they just ignored this. I dressed in a dinner suit as usual...

Wonderful Itinerary
By Louie Wolstencoft on 16 May 2018
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

This cruise started on 28th April until 8th May. We have long wanted to visit Dubrovnik and were not disappointed. In fact the whole cruise starting from Rome followed by Salerno, Messina, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Ajaccio and Toulon was wonderful. The 10-day cruise ended in Barcelona. It was full on but well worth it. The service on board was second to none as was the food. The only downside for us was arriving at Rome...

Disappointing
By Janice Montgomerie on 02 October 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

This was a most disappointing holiday. There was no indoor pool so as the weather was generally poor we were not able to swim. The food was not of a good standard. The worst factor of the cruise was that after a week my husband and I both caught a severe influenza bug. I was very ill indeed. In fact I am still getting over it now nearly 3 weeks after I caught it. Not...

Icelandic adventure

Had a good time on the Crown Princess. Service, entertainment and food up to the usual Princess good standard. The ship is a little tired in places and could benefit from an update, in paticular the cabins. The ship could not dock at Lerwick, due to the harbour master declaring it unsave to tender. Not a big deal as the weather was not good, however we did receive reimbursement on our on board account for...

Norwegian cruise 14 nights
By Dawn Pickford on 04 September 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Had a fantastic 14 nights cruise around Norway. 9 ports of call and the scenery is just magnificent. The cruise ship was lovely and clean. The food was delicious and plenty of choice. We used the Anytime Dining in the main restaurants and the Horizon court buffet on theme nights. The service was excellent and the waiters and bar staff all friendly and happy. The balcony stateroom was larger than we have had on Royal...

Our Princess Cruise to Norway
By Janet Gunningham on 04 September 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

The Crown Princess is no doubt a beautiful ship, and we went to some beautiful ports, but we cannot say we would go on a Princess cruise again. The current exchange rate did not help as all purchases on board were in dollars, and they added a service charge to that, as well as the $13.50 daily service charge per person. We found the on board entertainment during the sea days poor, no lectures or...

Fjords Cruise 22nd July 2017
By David on 07 August 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Service for breakfast in the upper decks was poor. Not enough room for passengers, the buffets for breakfast were hap hazard having to re queue after starters to get main meal and then again if you wanted toast etc. This area af the ship needs a re think. Lots of passengers complaining and rightly so! The rest of the service for dinner was very good in the other restaurants. Very slow service for drinks in...

A pleasant week on the Fjords
By Jacqueline Smith on 07 August 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Had a very pleasant week on the Norwegian Fjords . We booked quite late so was happy to get a balcony cabin on C deck which have lovely big balconies. The ship is getting a bit tired looking but spotlessly clean. I know it is due a refit later this year. The crew were very friendly as they always are on all the Princess ships we have sailed on. The food was mainly good a...

Fjord Cruise 22-29 July
By Sharon Wood on 07 August 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

The ports of call were excellent. The tours in Olden and the 8 hour coach tour to Gerainger were the best tours we have ever experienced (not inexpensive but we didnt feel we’d been greatly overcharged). The downside to the cruise was the number of staff. The main dining room staff were good but were so stretched. Waiting staff has been cut to the minimum. In the Horizon and Caribe buffet areas there is not...

Gluten Free “special” was Jelly Tapioca Pudding – Crown Princess 13 May 2017
By Robert Lucas on 04 August 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

My wife and I have completed 25 previous voyages with Princess and six with P&O. Princess is one of our favourite cruise lines and their ability to cater for my wife’s gluten free diet has always been an important factor. We have also sailed with Holland America, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Azamara Club Cruises and Regent Seven Seas. We are not keen on the largest ships, so we have also patronised Azamara and Regent. We booked...

So glad we tried Princess Cruises
By Lynne Cantle on 31 July 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Decided to try Princess for the first time as it was a similar Baltic itinerary to our usual P&O and we had heard good reports. We were so glad we did try it as we thoroughly enjoyed our time. There were lots of nice little touches, being served tea, coffee, lemonade etc in the buffet. Strawberries and cream while we watched Wimbledon at Movies Under the Stars, free ice cream, popcorn etc as well. Their...

Another great cruise with Princess Cruises
By margaret dixon on 31 July 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Another great cruise with Princess Cruises. As always the crew were fantastic. The ship was very good – clean but looking very slightly tired. The food was very good but lunchtime in the self service a little predictable – fish and chips every day but a reasonable choice. The 3 shows were excellent but would have liked more. The activities were very good.

Cabin and steward good. Entertainment poor. Food average but very slow service for anytime dining. Good ports but be wary of poor organised trips particularly in Copenhagen. First time on Princess and I would use them again.

Tired Crown Princess
By Alan Saunders on 31 July 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Having been lucky to go on P&O Cruises Azura in May this year, Crown Princess is a tired vessel in my personal opinion the food was not up to scratch! The best meals we had on board were when we paid to eat in the Crown Grill!!! Would have eaten there every night if I could have afforded it.

Although P&O cruises are still taken into consideration regarding status on board they are no longer applicable when estimating ‘most travelled passenger’. Only cruises with Princess are considered. They do, however, award further on board credit depending on status and is between $25 and $100 depending on status.

North Cape Disappointment
By Clive Aland on 11 July 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

Missed highlight of holiday which was Flam railway excursion (after paying extortionate price) due to late docking. We had waited an hour at meeting place before being told it was cancelled and no alternative was offered. Half day at final stop of Bergen as Princess told us Isle of Wight yacht race was closing Southampton docks which was a load of rubbish. Free shuttle service to downtown turned out to be as far as docks...

Glorious Norway on Crown Princess
By John Hayden on 10 July 2017
Princess Cruises | Crown Princess Reviews

We went right up to North Cape. Quite a lot of cloud but the scenery was fantastic. The facilities at North Cape and elsewhere are gradually catching up with the larger number of tourists and the short season. We find Norway much better than Alaska. We had two visits into Songefjord to Flaam (famous railway) and to Skjolden. Skjolden is as good as, if not better than Geiranger and only one ship at a time....

Is it the way to go?

Just returned from a very pleasant cruise to Norway including the North Cape and then watched a Dispatches programme on Channel 4 on 3rd July which seemed to tell us cruising was one of the the most polluting activity you could undertake. Trust Princess and Carnival have some answers to the points raised or no more cruising for us.

Our second trip on the Crown Princess but the first time we have sailed when the ship has actually been full. We were on a Baltic cruise so pretty hectic with just a few sea days. The entertainment on board was the best we’ve ever experienced on a cruise ship and we’ve been on plenty……because it was so good it was a problem getting a seat in the theatre so it was necessary to get...
