P&O Cruises Ship Review Oceana Reviews

Your holiday begins the minute you step into Oceana’s bustling atrium with its Caribbean-vibe palm trees and brass, glass-fronted lifts. On board you’ll enjoy a welcoming informal atmosphere with plenty to keep kids entertained. Adults can indulge in the spa, hedge bets in the casino or rela x with a cocktail on the terrace.

This was our second time cruising on Oceana. Once again totally delighted with the experience. However, we felt our balcony cabin was looking ‘tired’ but was kept alive by our hard working and cheerful Cabin Steward. Overall, the commitment to customer service was of a high standard as was the food. Would I cruise to this part of the world again, probably not as having experienced it once there was nothing exceptional drawing us back...

Crisscrossing the Arabian gulf !

This cruise will not be everyone’s cup of tea! The itinerary had little to offer unless you love shopping Malls looking at hotels skyscrapers and Mosques. For some unexplained reason the cruise itinerary was changed and instead of visiting Muscat we visited the container port of Khor al Fakkan absolutely nothing to see or do there other than walk along the Corniche or in English the seafront. Most tours overpriced for what they offered and...

What a shambles our cabin had been double booked when we arrived in Dubai, luckily they had a spare cabin for us on our first night. When we did get our cabin it was next to the steward’s store cabin and every morning 7 – 7.30 am we where woken by her banging the trolley into the side of the cabin wall. The ship is certainly very tired, a lot of towels where sunbathing on...

Enjoyed our destinations but not the ship
By Steven Dunnington on 19 March 2019
P&O Cruises | Oceana Reviews

Dubai and our other destinations were more than we expected really enjoyed, however, Oceana compared more to a 3-star hotel food in MDR good but not fantastic food in buffet not edible cold most days with very little flavour. Entertainment repetitive although we did enjoy on the whole the headliners could dance but certainly not sing.

Ten days not long enough when you consider the flight time but a glimpse of a different culture including glitzy Dubai, boring Barhain and ‘Oh so lovely’ Oman. Take long loose trousers and wrist length blouses so as not to offend.

Lovely ship, the balconies are small unable to both sit out unless you put your feet up on the edge, really enjoyed Dubai could stay there longer but the rest of the ports not a lot to do, we did excursions at every port the best one was the safari desert BBQ under the stars well worth the money. On the sea day and most afternoons unable to get a sunbed as towels were on...

An excellent holiday in a new destination. Trips were particularly good and we were pleased with the itinerary. Also we found the local people very friendly and the cruise exceeded our expectations. However, the ship is a little tired in spite of a recent makeover

Very enjoyable but wouldn’t go back

Dubai & Emirates on Oceana – firstly we have to say the Oceana was excellent in all areas – though can’t comment on entertainment as we never really go to any shows- however whilst the various destinations were all interesting & in some cases spectacular we prefer cruises that allow us to explore on our own & this was not possible mainly because of cruise terminal locations. The one real blot on the landscape was...

E904a – Arabian Cruise – 9th February 2019
By KAREN WATTAM on 28 February 2019
P&O Cruises | Oceana Reviews

The holiday got off to a bad start at Dubai airport when there were no buses to take us to the ship! We landed at 7:30 am and didn’t step foot on the ship until 11:30 am which resulted in a few very tired irate passengers standing for a very long time with no communication from P&O. Overall impression, I thought Oceana was looking a little tired and dated to say it has supposedly had...

1/The A380 from Gatwick airport to Dubai Was excellent very comfortable and well equipped and beautiful food and excellent cabin service. 100% 2/once off the plane leaving Dubai Airport was absolutely chaotic and it took over 3 hours to get to the coach and having to drag all our Cases and Hand Luggage And everyone on our flight was very unhappy and very tired at the shambles and lack of communication or even a Coach...

We had not been on Oceana for 10 years but it was still in good condition. The food was very good and the waiters were excellent. I was dissapointed that the restaurant manager did not come to the tables and ask if everything was to our liking. Our cabin steward was also very good. The entertainment was well below standard. The past two cruises we have been on I thought at last P and O...

Great Cruise from Dubai
By Judith Smelt on 25 February 2019
P&O Cruises | Oceana Reviews

We had a great cruise. All the ports of call were interesting. I noted in a previous review someone said that in Khor Al Fakkan the shuttle bus took you to a supermarket. This was in the town centre and a short walk away was a lovely beach. We walked along the promenade, went on the beach to see the fisherman land their catch and walked to a great hotel for coffee. It was really...

Overall very good. However, the ship is looking tired. Our room was fine but the balcony was rusty, the balcony door was difficult to slide. Flaking paint from the balcony had not been cleared up. Torn curtain not replaced. As usual, there were insufficient seats on deck. Also to note that the port area of Khor Al Fakkan was not a great attraction! The shuttle bus offered a trip to a big supermarket only.

Our cruise to Dubai and Arabian Gulf lived up to our expectations and more. As we were on P&O’s maiden voyage to this part of the world we were pleasantly surprised that everything went smoothly and as always customer enjoyment was paramount. Food, entertainment, staff and excursions were great and as expected. The ports visited were amazing and we would return tomorrow. Oceana is our favourite ship but she is starting to show her age...

The number and variety of ports of call really appealed to us. We thoroughly enjoyed the trips we took which were led by very good guides. We thought that the restaurant food was varied and delicious. Staff generally were helpful and friendly and the bar venues were good. Our one real issue was the very high cost charged for the use of the internet. This was disappointing.

There were a few issues with the ship, one being the ladies toilets were always out of order all through the cruise, but the main one was the air conditioning was turned up too high and the ship was freezing, everybody was coughing and a lot of people were ill. The Adriatic restaurant was like sitting in an icelantic wind tunnel in the evening, everyone was complaining of feeling cold, the only way to keep...

The cabins on the ship and in particular the bathrooms are very very small. The balcony will just hold 2 chairs. The menu choices were going worse but the actual food was very good. The cruise was a large number of sea days and not many stops. The sail past of HMS Dragon was very nice.

New year cruise

P&O Cruises | Oceana Reviews

This was our 5th New year cruise with friends and family. Previous ones have been exceptional so we were all looking forward to it. However, although the ship was beautifully decorated there was very little festive atmosphere. The waiters at the table never smiled, service was very slow, they seemed to have far too many tables to serve. Service in the bars was also slow. The biggest disappointment was New Year’s Eve. At 11.30 dancing...
