 - Ship Review Oriana Reviews

Oriana is one of the smallest cruise ships in the P&O Cruises fleet, elegantly combining classic design features such as teak decks and a tiered stern with delightful Art Deco touches. Exclusively for adults, she exudes refinement and luxury. Oriana’s signature features are a stunning atrium with a Tiffany glass ceiling and the Crow’s Nest bar.

Never again

I have cruised 6 times with P&O. 3rd day I started with a horrendous cold. We could not turn the air con off. I reported a few times to deal with it. I was given a fan to put in the cabin. Don’t know how that was suppose to help. Everywhere you went on around the ship the air con was on full blast especially in the dining room. Both I and husband got chest...

Christmas in the Canaries

Absolutely fabulous, the ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Wonderful food and a great choice. The staff could not have been more helpful and ever so polite. Be sorry to see Oriana leaving the P&O fleet.

Christmas and New Year
By Moira Findlay on 14 January 2019
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Although a lot of people we spoke to on this cruise loved the ship it was not the one for us. There was a lack of toilet facilities for the disabled in the public areas – there being nothing on Deck 12 for the Conservatory Buffet venue and also on other decks as well. We felt that it was just too small a ship for us – although for most of the people on board...

Overall
By Mr Geoff and Mrs Carole Cronk on 14 January 2019
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

We have always considered Oriana our favourite cruise ship and are sorry to hear the Chinese have bought her. Our Xmas cruise on her was one of the best we have done except that the fireworks on Tenerife were poor. The evening entertainment was excellent. The Headliners and the 4 violinists were superb. We are on Ventura on June 16th and hope they are on again.

Xmas/New Year 2018/19
By Anthony Cathcart on 14 January 2019
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

The dining service left a little to be desired, quite a few sullen waiters, the bars were much more friendly. The cabin steward was excellent, nothing too much trouble. An adult only ship, which at the time of year ( Xmas ) we would not want to go on again, it was somewhat like a Hospital ship. Overall good value as with all P&O cruises, an incorrect choice on our part

Great Christmas Cruise
By Jill and Alan Haigh on 14 January 2019
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

After a very comfortable coach journey by Eavesway we boarded a very well decorated Oriana and were delighted with the cruise to the Canaries. Service and food were great. We were a little disappointed with the entertainment, but the Headliners were the best we have ever seen. Trips from the ship were good especially the Whale watching and the weather was very good. There was a problem with the ship losing power for 4 hours...

A really good cruise
By John Haran on 17 December 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Just back from a month cruising to the Caribbean and back on Oriana, we are sad it’s going to new owners next year. The cruise had it’s difficulties with 3 helicopter evacuations, and having to divert to miss bad weather. The ship had to turn around each time to meet the helicopters. Amazingly we made up the time and kept to our itinerary. The staff were, as usual, very professional and efficient in all departments...

Superb Mediterranean cruise
By Alan Shelton on 04 December 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

We had an absolutely wonderful time on our cruise around the Mediterranean in October. Oriana is a beautiful ship and I for one will be sad to see her go. I’m also very sad that her replacement will be such a massive ship. I do hope that P&O will realise that there are a large number of their clients who prefer smaller, more intimate ships. My cabin (Deluxe outside) was excellent. Lots of room and...

Cruise on Oriana 24/10/2018 to 11/11/2018
By Mr Eugene Kinsella on 22 November 2018

Once again the waiting staff up to usual high standard and without these employees the cruise would not have been enjoyable. Entertainment dreadful as shows are all the same as previous and new shows need to be introduced if it’s not too much trouble for the entertainment manager. Food good and I urge P&O not to get rid of Club Dining or black tie formal nights as it may be the only time when passengers can...

Dining and entertainment were not up to normal standard.

P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Overall the cruise on Oriana was good despite the weather – not that P & O could do anything about that!! The ship was comfortable as usual and our balcony cabin spotless. The only gripe I had was the very long wait for our meals to come in Freedom dining. We were later informed that the stewards were having to service 24 covers instead of the original 16. They were not happy either and it...

Enjoyed despite the weather
By Maurice Gilliatt on 20 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Arrived home on 11 November after a 19-day cruise around the western med on Oriana. We had a false start due to the illness of 2 passengers having to turn back to Southampton after travelling out to sea for 1 hour, then we had to wait for a new slot before we could set sail again. Sailing across the Bay of Biscay was one of the smoothest crossings we have had, having said that the...

An excellent cruise with such marvellous staff to look after us. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff whatever it was. We had a great time on the Oriana and it is so sad that she is leaving the fleet. A sad goodbye to Oriana may she go to on and on.

Falling standards
By T.W. & A.M. Magee on 19 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Cruise to Malta on October 24th. Once again P&O are shaving standards & appear to be in a race to the bottom by cost-cutting. Examples of poor standards include a guest arriving for breakfast in pyjamas, slippers & dressing gown (unchallenged), a diminishing choice of vegetables in the main dining room, poor & repetitive choices of hot food in Conservatory at lunchtime & removal of small but important extras e.g. boiled sweets in the cabin....

Standards
By michael cockerill on 02 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

On Oriana cruised Adriatic in October, booked on B Deck in Deluxe Balcony cabin, found standards dropping, the little things one has enjoyed in the past are no longer there ie no bath robe, no slippers not even a bowl of sweets. Service still v,good but food is also not as enjoyable. My tip to all, never order the always available option. Have always cruised with P&O but will be having second thoughts next time.

19 night cruise on Oriana
By Mrs D Pepperell on 01 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Very good cruise, P&O staff attentive and always helpful, food very good. Have done many cruises in the past but this time due to a mobility problem hired a wheelchair – proved no problem to getting out and about. On the whole entertainment very good with one or two exceptions. The Croatian and Montenegro ports of cruise were excellent.

Such a shame that this ship is to be sold
By Jennifer Fairchild on 01 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

We have just returned from a cruise around the Adriatic aboard the Oriana, our first trip on this ship for over ten years. It has been refurbished recently and some layouts have been improved. I still question the ‘flow’ or lack of it, in the Conservatory, the buffet restaurant, which to me is impractical and leads to confusion and queues at popular times. Entertainment venues, like the theatre and Pacific lounge, are not the most...

19 nights primarily to the Adriatic provided us with some superb ports but particularly Zadar and Kotor…these should be added to everyone’s must-see places. We enjoyed excellent service from all the staff and P&O is difficult to beat on price..the ship is to be sold next year which is a shame but the engine noise at the back of the ship makes you feel it is time for her to go. We are not happy...

Adriatic cruise 5th Oct
By Joan Breban on 01 November 2018
P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Just returned from a lovely Adriatic cruise. The ship is showing its age but nevertheless is very comfortable – service as always is very good and the cabin was very roomy (outside). Entertainment spot on!! and we were happy with all the restaurants and (in our tier) the extra benefits. Slightly let down by continual noise and vibration which came from the gym just above our cabin. This was reported on several occasions but to little...

Great Cruise

P&O Cruises | Oriana Reviews

Ignore the moaners, things beyond anyone’s control happen. We thoroughly enjoyed it, had fun with restaurant waiters, wine waiters and entertainment staff. Good food with plenty of variety. Headliners theatre company were excellent, other entertainments were good. Gerard, our cabin steward was wonderful, we just didn’t want to disembark. Now looking forward to next cruise on Britannia to the Baltic.
