Cunard Line Ship Review Queen Victoria Reviews

After an extensive refit in 2017, Queen Victoria doesn’t just meet expectations, she exceeds them. Her facilities are amongst the most modern on the
seas, yet she exudes an air of traditional elegance so evocative of great liners past. Luxurious marble, Art Deco accents, dark wood panelling, rich fabrics and opulent decoration create a special ambience and provide the perfect backdrop for Cunard’s renowned ‘White Star’ service.

Title: Golden wedding cruise Summary: Having travelled on five cruise lines expected Cunard to be a cut above the others. Having said that it was mainly good. A bit cold in some of the public areas and the drinks were horrendous price.

Title: Hamburg 23rd – 27th March 2018 Summary: A superb short cruise in a fine ship recently refurbished. Part of the trip was to assess the Britannia Club service as we like to eat “anytime”. The Club service is excellent and the restaurant offers an “a la cart” option menu in addition to the main Britannia menu. We tried the Verandah french restaurant one evening and in our opinion it was not worth the $78 supplement. The overall service was excellent and in...

Title: Standards dropping Summary: We have just returned from a cruise on the Queen Victoria. We did the Santiago to Southampton section of her South American voyage. How disappointing. We have cruised many times with Cunard and have sailed before on the Victoria. Getting from the airport to the ship was bad. Passenger handling at the airport was chaotic. Once out of the airport we were taken to a holding room. When asked how long we would be there...

Title: Queen Victoria – 30 nights – Santiago (Chile) to Southampton. Summary: We flew from Heathrow on a BA flight to Santiago and had an excellent flight. We were met at the airport, rather chaotic, but after all this was South America, and we were soon on our way to the ship. A bonus being that we stepped at a vineyard on route. The check in was fine, but as soon as we stepped on board we could sense something different. During Queen Victoria’s refit last May...

Title: Exceeded our expectations Summary: Our first sea cruise, taken as a means of getting to South America, was every bit as good as the recommendations we had received. All the food was very good quality, well-served in both restaurants, Britannia and Lido. Our cabin on Deck 6 was very comfortable. We were particularly surprised by the breadth and quality of music provided around the ship, daytime and evening, and relaxed to either the String Quartet or the cocktail pianist...

Title: New Year without Brugge Summary: Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions we didn’t get into Zebrugge so no trip to Brugge. Bit of a shame but to have missed Amsterdam would have been terrible. What a wonderful place to see in the New Yea. Fireworks, they go off the length and breath of the city. We had a personal display close into the ship which went on for about 20 minutes but we had to return to the warmth of...

Title: Christmas Cruise on Queen Victoria Summary: We were very well looked after at the reception to board and though we had rather a long wait for wheelchair assistance it was worthwhile as my wife was not sore & exhausted by the time we reached our cabin on Deck 8. Since it took us rather a long time to unpack we elected not to go to the Club Dining Room on the first night & had supper in the Lido instead and...

Title: Pre Chritmas five night cruise & First time on Cunard Summary: After over twenty years of cruising, P&O and Princess, we thought it was the time we tried Cunard…When we saw the five-night cruise in Dec it fitted the bill for us. Combining a birthday and two ports we had not been to and cruising on QV. We are familiar with Arcadia and we’re intrigued to see the differencess… embarkation was swift and our cases were in our inside cabin when we arrived there. Once unpacked...

Title: Is Cunard going the way of the other Lines? Summary: I was really looking forward to cruising on Queen Victoria again, I’ve had some really good holidays on her, however, from embarkation to disembarkation this cruise was below the standards I expect from Cunard. Embarkation was chaos, with no explanation or apology for the delays. Once on board, it was apparent that Victoria has lost her sparkle, the atmosphere was flat, the fun feeling had gone. She has been refurbished but there were lots of...

Title: Has renewed our passion for cruising Summary: Our recent 6 day cruise on Queen Victoria has renewed our passion for cruising. From embarking to disembarking we had a wonderful time. Over the past couple of years, we have been disappointed with the drop in standards of P&O Cruises so we decided to renew our relationship with Cunard and booked the Big Band Ball cruise on Queen Victoria and we have to say we were not disappointed. In fact, from the moment we...

Title: First Queen Victoria cruise Summary: Haven’t been on Cunard for many years now, in fact, the last one was aboard the Caronia (proper ship) stopped sailing QE2 because as beautiful as her lines were she was internally showing her age and quite frankly the entertainment on board was, to say the least, embarrassing. So it was with some reservation that we booked the Big Band cruise aboard Q.V. It was only a five-day cruise so if it went pear shaped...

Title: Cruise to Zeebrugge/Amsterdam and Cherbourg Summary: A somewhat disappointing cruise that was completely spoilt by the extortionate cost of drinks. To pay $42 plus 15% for the cheapest wine and on one occasion made to pay $27 plus 15% for two Gin and Tonics is not on. It was embarrasing on our table of six that our other passengers found the cost so high they resorted to drinking water!! Food was excellent though and service.

Title: First Cruise After Refit Summary: This was our first cruise on QV after the refit earlier in the year. Whilst we had some concerns about loss of facilities, such as the old Chart Room, we were not disappointed with the overall result. Whilst the Chart Room has been relocated to a smaller area it is still a comfortable place to relax. We were impressed with the refurbishment of the Winter Garden, which is now an excellent place to relax and...

Title: A huge disappointment Summary: My wife and I were extremely disappointed with the Queen Victoria as we were expecting it to be so much better. Right from the outset we felt let down as we had to wait an age for our suitcases to be delivered to our stateroom. The ship had sailed before they finally arrived leaving us little time to unpack and then get changed for dinner. We were booked on the second sitting on a table...

Title: Overall first time experience Summary: Having never been on a crusie we didn’t know what to except, all I can say is we weren’t disappointed. From the moment we boarded in Rome it was pure luxury. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff they were always pleasant & polite. The food was second to none & the cleanliness of the ship was fabulous. In fact I have now got my husband looking for our next cruise which...

Title: Good trip; shame about the excursion! Summary: The booking, airport and ship services were excellent. Our time on ship was virtually faultless, with pleasant attentive staff and good facilities. being a larger ship than we had previously experienced, we were pleasantly surprised by the ease of accessing ports. The one fly in the ointment was the guided tour of Florence and Pisa. We found this badly organised, with an audio system which didn’t work and little attention to customer needs. We were...
