TIRED!!!Byon 04 April 2016Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
We enjoyed our cruise – it was EXACTLY as expected! The ship is tired and ready to be consigned to Thompsons – where it is going as you read this! The crew / facilities etc. were EXCELLENT, and were obviously very sad that they had to leave the ship. Senecia, our waitress, could not possibly have been better. She was experienced in serving food, but also judged just how to treat passengers. Availability of drinks...
A break in the sunByon 29 February 2016Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Took a break in February to escape the winter and get some sun. Flew out to Dubai for a week followed by a Royal Caribbean cruise for another week. The Gulf is a bit short of interesting ports of call so the ship proceeded extremely slowly to El Kasab, Muscat and Abu Dharbi. The ship is showing its age and we understand is being sold to TUI this April. Fortunately, we had been upgraded to...
cruise 2016Byon 01 February 2016Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
The Ship was a bit “tired” . I am aware that Thompsons have bought from the end of April. The usual Royal Caribbean high standards for food, service and cleanliness. However the shows left a lot to be desired and the general d??cor was not what we were used to. this included crockery, towels sunbeds etc.
Christmas cruiseByon 04 January 2016Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Although ship is quite old, it has been re furnished to a good standard. Since we cruised with RC 14 years ago, we noticed that the menu was not up to the previous standard. There was no lobster on the menu except as a payable extra. Wi-Fi was very expensive $35 a day very poor reception even in the hot spots. A complete waste of money. Could not fault the service in the dining room...
A little tired, but still good value…Byon 05 December 2015Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Good value, hindered by the weather (not able to dock at 1st port, Dubrovnik), but still had a fab time at Rhodes, Ephesus and Split. The food was plentiful; a bit samey at the Windjammer (pile it high, sell it cheap premise; picture ‘British Night’ as a pizza with egg, bacon and sausage, and puddings of sticky toffee with custard and you get the idea!), but the dining room option was always there and food...
wonderful destinations with splendourByon 12 October 2014Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Just returned from a great 8 day cruise to the eastern med on Splendour of the Seas. It was our third Royal Caribbean cruise and the second on a ship of this size. We appreciated the effort by all staff who were very friendly and helpful. The aerial shows in the centrum whilst a novelty we felt fell a bit flat! We wished more use had been made of the top hat lounge – much...
Turkey & The Greek Islands Cruise.Byon 29 September 2013Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
We have cruised with RC over 20 times and this cruise was unfortunately bad for one reason only. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary so booked a Junior Suite for the first time. Above our suite was a engine or motor noise which ran 24/7 and on the first two nights we had no sleep. They were not able to move us as the ship was full so we were supplied with ear plugs. This...
Greek IslandsByon 07 October 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
I was a little disappointed with the cabin quality. The entertainment overall was poor. I do think charging an extra 15% on every drinks bill was extortionate as paying almost $40 for a bottle of wine is bad enough. On the positive side the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the public rooms were beautiful. It just did not match up to our last cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse. I can now see how...
Never again on this shipByon 21 September 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
We have been cruising for about 12 years and during this time probably been on about 8 cruises. Although the ship and cabin were lovely, we were disappointed about the service, the food and value for money. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean previously and have been perfectly satisfied. We felt on this cruise that RC are going down market and are doing everything to cut corners The food in the main restaurant was bland...
DisatisfiedByon 25 August 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Greek islands Cruise with Royal Caribbean for the first and last time. ship and food first class. Entertainment on board was abysmal except for one only show by The Beatle Manics. The price of drinks is extortionate. Dryest trip ever. Will have to go back to Thomson. Ships not as classy but entertainment and choice of is excellent.
DisappointingByon 20 July 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Cruised with Royal Caribbean three years ago on Independence of the Seas and often with various Princess ships and was very disappointed with our Greek and Adriatic cruise. Royal Caribbean seem to be cutting corners everywhere to save money. You could only eat in the main restaurant on one day at lunch time and had to use the awful buffet on the other days, there was no afternoon tea, no chocolates at bedtime, the production...
Venice, Turkey, and the Greek IslandsByon 26 June 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
Splendour OTS was as expected – clean and comfortable, and, as expected, excellent staff. Drinks were also as expected – expensive – around $30 for the cheapest bottle of wine at dinner. And also as expected (as on most if not all cruise ships), they are out to part you from your hard earned cash at every opportunity, with excursions, paying extra to eat in restaurants other that the main dining room, and taking your...
Greek IslandsByon 20 May 2012Royal Caribbean International | Splendour of the Seas Reviews
The ship was very good in all aspects, but it still grates that Royal Caribbean can be so petty in some things – they charge $3 for fresh orange juice. Why?! It just doesn’t seem worth it. Wouldn’t it be better to add a few dollars to the cost of the cruise and avoid the irritation? The dress codes were not policed, and the formal dining nights were not respected by everyone. I think it...
