Superb cruise to Cuba

Azamara Club Cruises | Azamara Journey Reviews

This was our 4th cruise with Azamara and we were not disappointed. We like the smaller ship with just 670 guests on board and we were always able to dock very close to each city centre with no need for the use of tenders to get ashore. As always the service was excellent with staff remembering our personal likes and dislikes. The entertainment is on a smaller scale but very good with an Azamazing evening included. We were all taken to the indoor theatre of the famous Tropicana club for a dance performance which was most enjoyable. Another highlight of the Azamara programme is the White Night party where guests are asked to wear something white for an excellent buffet and party on deck. This is always a memorable and fun evening.
We chose this cruise – Cuba Intensive as we had longer in each port with overnight stays in both Havana and Santiago. Cuba is the biggest island in the Caribbean and we wanted to learn more about the country and its people without visiting other Caribbean islands. In Havana we booked an English speaking guide and driver for 2 days with Cuban Trip Compass and we thoroughly enjoyed being driven to all the main sites in an old American Chevy. We did our own self guided walk in Cienfuegos and an Azamara trip in Santiago which was the birthplace of the revolution.
This is not a cruise for beach lovers or those wanting large scale entertainment. I would recommend it highly to anyone who likes the casual and friendliness of a smaller ship and who wants to be immersed in the culture of the country.
