Cruise didn’t tick every box but a good holiday
Richard Wallis | March 31, 2017 | Viking River Cruises | Viking Ingvar
It was a fine holiday and maybe, having had other river cruises, we expected a bit too much. This was, after all, Northern Russia. The itinerary was excellent but Ingvar was not quite as impressive as other boats on which we have sailed. We missed the option to eat in the evenings away from the main restaurant. 90% of the passengers, maybe more (we only found 6 other Brits), were American and they tended to ‘bag tables’ and make up big parties, so we felt isolated from time to time. Also the boat was docked miles from the centre of Moscow & St Petersburg so we found it difficult to do personal exploring. Some of the guides were very poor (sadly our visit to the Hermitage was a great disappointment) and many guides lost the plot from time to time due to poor English. Are we glad we made the effort to go, of course, would we travel with with Viking again, probably not
